Dr. William H. Wagoner. Pr
esident of Wilmington College
was the principal speaker. Dr.
Wagoner pointed out that our
last frontier is not outer-space
but the areas in the swamps,
sounds, oceans and waterways.
The youthful educator said the
local communities are not self
supporting entities within them
selves but are dependent upon
the development of the entire
area. He further stated that

apel organization. Some thirty
persons from Duplin were In
attendance at the awards pro
gram.

pected members, Mrs. Ada
Hussey Williams, who passed
away on November 6, 1968.

personal feelings she inspired

DEATH
John Powell
WALLACE-Mr. John Powell,
age 91, died Monday morning
at his home. Funeral services
were held Tuesday at 3:30 from
the Wallace Presbyterian
Church. Services conducted by
Rev. J.G. Morrison. Interment
followed in Rockfish Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Martha S. Powell, one
daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Fields
of Wallace; three sons, Luther
Powell. George Powell, Charles
Powell, all of Wallace; ten
grandchildren, and eight great
grandchildren.
Pallbearers were AJ. Carr,
Zlbelin, and David Powell.
