t ' Tilton-Kennedy Speak Vows ? V *" Teresa Ruth Tilton of 0Goldsboro and Walter Gerald Kennedy of Deep Run were united in mar riage at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 17 in the Pikes Crossroad Penecostal Holiness Church. The Rev. Gary Strickland of Pikeville officiated at the 'double-ring ceremony. The bride was given in ^marriage by her parents and was escorted to the altar by her father. She is the daughter of Mr. and ; Mrs. Clyde Tilton of Golds boro. ' The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Billie Ken nedy of Deep Run. The bride wore an ivory ^loor length gown with a Chapel train of chiffon and beaded silk venise lace over taffeta. The fitted bodice featured a Queen Anne neckline and full length ? chiffon puff sleeves. Silk ; venise lace motifs etched ; with seed pearls lavishly ; adorned the bodice, outlin ed the neckline and illusion ^roke, and cuffed the puff sleeves which were fasten ed with bridal buttons. The full length chiffon skirt extended into a chapel train. Silk venise lace ; motifs etched with seed pearls appliqued the skirt. Scalloped venise lace en circled the hemline of the 4pown. The bride chose an ivory chapel mantilla of bridal il lusion bordered with silk venise lace and was ac cented with lace motifs flowing from a venise lace caplet accented with seed pearls for her headpiece. She carried a bouquet of ^toisie^n^a^Vbreath^ centered with an orchid at tached to a white Bible. Attendant* Mrs. Teresa Beasley of Goldsboro was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Ms. Mary Ann Archie of Greenville; Ms. Jan Car roll of Manning, S. C.; Ms. Donna Jones of Wake Forest; Ms. Tammy Ken nedy of Albertson; Ms Rhonda Miller of Green ville; Ms. Lee Anne Pittard of Lumberton; and Ms. Brenda Raynor of Newton Grove. Miss Michelle Hollowell of Goldsboro was the Oowergirl. The groom chose his father to serve as best man. Ushers were Marty Harper of Deep Run; Dex ter Hill of Deep Run; Waylon Humphrey of Chapel Hill; BUly Ray Ken nedy of Albertson; Gary Kennedy of New Orleans, La.; Ken Tilton of Goldsboro; and Clint White of Alvin, Texas. Michael Raynor of Newton Grove was the ring bearer. Music was provided by Patricia Davis, organist, and Donald Deans, guitarist. Mr. and Mrs.' Marty Gurganus were the vocalists. Ms. Elizabeth Hood directed the wedding, and Ms. Jeanette Kennedy presided at the register. The bride is a graduate of Southern Wayne High School and East Carolina University with a B. S. degree in therapeutic recreation. She is presently employed by Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro. The groom is a graduate of South Lenoir High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a b S. degree In chemistry. He is presently employed by the Kinston Clinic Pharmacy. After a wedding trip to unannounced points, the couple will reside In Goldsboro. - Receptions A reception was given by the parents of the bride im mediately following the ceremony in the fellowship hall of the church. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. James Hollowell of Goldsboro, and goodbyes were said by Mr. and Mrs. Dick Griffin of Deep Run. A rehearsal dinner was given by the parents of the groom on the eve of the wedding in the Pikes Crossroads Church fellowship hall. On April 10, a bridesmaids luncheon was given by Mrs. Lee Pittard and Miss Lee Anne Pittard at the Goldsboro Country Club. On April 3, Miss Rhonda Miller, Miss Donna Jones, and Mias Mary Ann Archie entertained the couple at the home of Ma. Miller. On March 27, a miscellaneous shower was given by Mrs. Billie Ken nedy and Mrs. Ethel Williams at the home of Mrs. Williams. On March 22, a lingerie shower was given by Mrs. Becky Potter, Mrs. Margaret Hollow ell, and Mrs. Frances McFatter in the home of Mrs. Hollo well. On March 20, Miss Rhon da Harper and Mias Denise Harper entertained the couple in their home. On March 20, a miscellaneous shower was given by Mrs. Christine Brown, Mrs. Teresa Beasley, Mrs. Jane Lee, and Mrs. Jan Carroll at the home of Mrs. Brown. On March 13, a miscellaneous shower was given by Mrs. Margaret Hollowell, Mrs. Frbnces McFatter, Mrs. Hazel Bizzell, and Mrs. Melba Jean Thompson at Pikes Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church. Faison News Circles Meet The evening circle of the Faison United Methodist Church met April 5 in the fellowship hall of the church. Mrs. Albert Brogden and Mrs. Delmas Hobbs presided in the absense of the chair man. Mrs. Pearl Bradshaw, secretary, read the minutes and called the roll. Mrs. Jean r Bryson gave the treasurer's ( report. f The program "Jesus ( Christ. Liberator," was pre sented by Mrs. J.W. Vinson. \ Discussion was held on the s Sixty-Uppers and the fellow- ? ship dinners coming up. s Refreshments were served I by Mrs. Hobbs and Mrs. r Vinson. 5 Mrs. Will E. Lewis hosted the Cora K. Clifton circle of the United Methodist women in the fellowship hall on April 13. Mrs. Ronald Oates, chairman, presided. The devotion and program were presented by Mrs. Will Lewis. Mrs. C.R. Lewis and Mrs. Clebourne Moore. Mrs. William Clifton gave a report on home mission projects. Mrs. William Lewis and Miss Carol Lewis assisted the hostess in serving re freshments to the additional members: Mesdames Headley Hatcher. Woodrow Joseph, and Henry Lewis. McKeel Selected for Tour Robert (Bobby) McKeel of Fayettteville. son of Mrs. Ella Adams McKeel of 1 Faison. recently returned 1 from a four-day educational trip to South Carolina. He was selected as one of 15 1 educators in the USA re- I ceiving an invitation for an 1 all-expense-paid six-week trip to visit Palestine, India and China. The group is scheduled to leave by plane on June 15. McKeel is a guidance counselor at Douglas Byrd Junior High School in Fayetteville. Faison Garden Club The Faison Garden Club net Thursday with Mrs. A.P. Jates, with Mrs. Jeffery vlargolis and Mrs. L.D. jroome as co-hostesses. The president, Mrs. Jack A/illiams introduced the ipeaker, Ken Teeter, exten lion agent. Teeter showed ilides on methods of planting or windbreaks. The nembers presented him a jift box of Cates Pickles. Christian Music Festival The annual Christian Music Festival, sponsored by Mount Olive College, is to be held at Eagles Nest Con ference Center near Mount Olive on Saturday, May 1. The Festival will begin at 1:30 a.m. and will continue until 5 p.m. A number of musical groups will be fea tured in this year's event. Groups performing are The Four in Christ of New Bern. The Glorv Bound Singers of Durffam, The Prescott Family of Grants boro. The Watchmen from Goldsboro, Danny and the Singing Ambassadors from New Bern. The Master's Quartet of Pikeville. and The New Creations from Mount Olive College.
