She is a person that has contributed a lot ot time and self to her church, com munity, and fellow man. Pam Braxton We have honored our woman of the year for this year. She is Pam Braxton. The flowers were placed in the church Sunday in honor of Pam by the auxiliary. A person's life speaks for its self and there is no way you could ever name over the different things that they have done that are mentionable, whether big or small. Sometimes the little things that are done mean more to us or somebody for whom they are done than several big things. A Christian does not do things for praise. They do not want or expect praise, they do it for the love of God and their fellow man. But we do want to mention a few things about Pam. for we are proud of her and her work here in our church and community. Pam is the daughter of Arlene and Harolu Hardison. She is married to Johnny Braxton and they one son, John. Pam has been in our church all her life, so she is known by all of us. Her parents and both sides of her grandparents were and still are I active and have contributed a lot to our church also. Patn graduated from Deep Run High School and went on to continue her education at Salem College in Winston Salem. She graduated from Salem in 1971 with a degree in English. She worked at Salem for one year, and then she worked about l'/i years at our own college in Mt. Olive. She worked in admissions at both schools. She then came back home to teach at South Lenoir High School. But this wasn't enough for Pam, she wanted her Masters Degree, so she taught school and went to school at East Carolina. She received her Masters from East Carolina in Greenville. Pam as I said before has been in our church all her life, but for the past few years she has been a lot more active. She is now president of our Woman's Auxiliary. She is also our church clerk. She and Johnny have a Sunday school class together and they both sing in our church choir. Pam plays the organ also. We are lucky to have several musicians in our church so they share the organ by Sundays. She also fills in on the piano sometimes. The following is a poem written by Pam Braxton that was read as a special dedication to her. An Evening Prayer Dear God, as this day draws to a close, As the gentle breeze tosses the delicate rose, Help me to see in everything, everywhere. Your mes sage you've written with such care. Help me to love my fellow man. Give me the desire to lend a helping hand. From doubt and suspicion lead me today. From thy way don't let me stray. In this yellow and gold and fading blue. Help me to see what you'd have me do. In others help me to see the good; Help me to do just what I should. And now as the sun sinks slowly down, I pray that you will make our lives abound with joy, and keep us always in thy care. For we'll be never wanting there.
