Pleasant Baptist church here for the past six months, has resigned to accept work closer to his home. Rev. The evening was spent writing to Yancey county boys in service, and the following report was made Approximately $1200.00 worth of War Bonds were sold by Victory Club girls at the Theatre last week, and 7 mufflers have been knitted and one skirt made for the Red Cross. The girls have received’ several answers from their Victory cards they have, written to boys in service. She attended Bre vard College and later the University of Tennessee where she was graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in August of this year. While attending the Un iversity of Tenn. Miss Proffitt was a member of the Dormitory Council, Home Ec. Clubs, Univer sity Choir, Play . Maker, and was very active i n Red Cross work in which she had charge of Red Cross knitting in her Dor mitory. ANNUAL REVIVAL MEETING AT DEYTON BEND METHODIST The annual revival meet ing will begin at Deyton Bend Methodist church, on Sunday, October 4th, at 8 P. M. Services will be held during tjhe week following at eight o’clock each night. The pastor, Rev. C. B. Way of Raid Creek, invites ev ery one in the community and in adjoining communi ties to attend the services. The people of all denomina tions are cordially invited to attend the services. Singers are given a special invitation to attend and sing. Any quartet or oth er group of singers will be given an opportunity to sing at any of the services. Deyton Bend church is one of the oldest church organizations in Yancey county, and many ,of the prominent citizens of that section of the county are members. The services will be held in the school auditorium, since the new church building has not been completed. F. S. A. With the FSA families of Yancey County super visors have tried to work as closely as possible in helping to produce more food and feed than ever.
