Ernest M. Howell of Green Mtn., i has been announced. The ceremony was performed on March 10 at St. Gene vieve church, Lafayette, La. CARTER'BUCKNER Miss Mattie Mozelle Car ter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Carter of Bald Creek, was married to v T. Sgt. Raymond Vines Buck ner of Barnardsville, N. C.,* in a ceremony on March 10 at the home of the bride. The Rev. W. L. Edwards officiated "using the double ring ceremony. The vows were spoken before an im-j provised altar of evergreen and ferns. Baskets of white gladiola s and snapdragons were interspersed with sev en branched candelabra holding lighted tapers. Preceding the ceremony a program of nuptial music was presented b y Miss Madge Carter, sister of the bride. Billy Ray, soloist, sang “Always’'. During the ceremony “I Love You 1 Truly” was played conclud ing with ‘'Oh Perfect Love”. The bride wore a dress maker spring suit of light gold flannel with cocoa j brown accessories. Her cor-j sage was of talisman roses,' mascaris, and lilies of the i valley. After the ceremony the ! couple left for a wedding trip through Western Nor ; th Carolina. The bride is a graduate | of Bald Creek high school and attended Asheville Col-; lege. For the past two years! she has been connected with Belks Dept. Store in Ashe ville. Sgt. Buckner, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John A. Buckner, is a veteran of World War II with 15 years’ of service. During the war he was stationed in the In-. dia-Burma Theatre, serving most of his time on the; Burma front. Following the! wedding trip Sgt. Buckner will report to Fort Bragg for reassignment. Hugh ; Mclntosh’s family is also j undergoing a siege of the same. Mr. and Mrs. Furman Carr are rejoicing this week over the return of a son who has been in service in the Pacific area. Mrs. Harold Burton and small daughter Diana are' visiting relatives in Baton' Rouge, La. Mrs. Ida Burton returned I home last Sunday from a; visit with her mother and brother in Burnsville. % The second quarterly] conference for the Bald Creek Methodist circuit will be held Sunday after- 1 noon.
