Everything I own Is in Yancey County, most of it b ing in the Town of Burnsville. I am well acquainted with the people of Burnsville and their problems. The rumor has been spread that if elected I would 'appoint certain ones as policemen. This rumor is false. I am not committed to the hiring of any person for any position and have no Intention of committing myself until after the election and until I take the oath of office. Another rumor has been spread that if elected, I would extend the limits of the corporation. That is false. The size of the Town can only be Increased or decreased by the General Assembly of North Carolina. I am no longer a member of that body.. The Town of Burnsville has more streets than the present board has been able to keep up. What has the present fo.ard done for the streets in the past two years t What has become of the gasoline tax paid to the town pf Bums ville by the State of North Carolii a for street improvements for the past three years? I wish to assure the citizens and residents of the Town of Burnsville that anyone hired as policeman for the Town of Burns ville will be yeqtired to devote his time to the duties of policeman * Inside the corporate limits of the Town and will pot be permitted to go out Into the county and serve papers for the highway patrolmen or the Sheriff M Yancey County. The State of North Carolina pays ' the patrolmen their salary. The I’oard of Commissioners of Yancey 1 County pays the Sheriff and his deputies their salary. The Town of Burnsville pays the policemen their salary. Let each person perform the duties of his office where he 1, ; supposed to. I am In favor of Increasing !'ie amount of water the consum ers of Burnsville get for their mo. ey. I am opposed to any sewer j tax or hddltlonal tax or fee of any kind. I pledge myself to work diligc.itly for the Improvement of the streets of the Town of Burnsville and for the reduction on the bond ed Indebtedness of the Town. i ' i The vote, work, and Influence of each and every citizen of the I Town of Burnsville will bo appreciated.
