Thalekeimer Will Batura As Ski Lodge Mgr. Off Blowiag Rock Blowing Rock Ski Lodge, Inc. has announced that Mr. M. E. (Bill) Thalheimer will return as manager of the ski aiea this winter. Mr. Thalheimer Is one of the founders and developers of Blowing Rock Ski Lodge. He both planned and supervised the building of the Area. He operated It for the two sea sons missing 1964-65 season. Mr. Thalheimer spent last season visiting other skh areas. He has taken advan tage of what he learned last season by making improve - ments in the handling of - rental equipment. He has been working with his engi neering staff to improve the snow making facilities. This is being done by upgrading of the equipment and the re vamping of all phases of the snow making equipment, so that It will be possible this season to increase the am ount of snow made at any time, weather permitting, since the most important thing to skiing is good snow conditions. Blowing Rock Ski lodge Restaurant will be operated this season under the man agement of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Slebert who were brought here from Califor nia for this position. Mr. Thalheimer said that season tickets will be avail able after November Ist. and may be secured by writing, phoning or visitinf Blowing Rock Ski Lodge. Thirty two other girls from across the state competed in the Junior Div ision, with a total of 79 competing in the Sub-Deb, Junior and Senior Divisions. This contest is sponsored by the American Wool Council, and was held on the N. C. State College campus in Ral eigh on October 23. Ramona’s ensemble i s composed of a sleeveless wool A-llne dress, topped with a stand-away collard jacket which gives a suit effect. Both dress and jack et feature top-stitching. For her ensemble, Ramona selected a loosely woven, soft yellow woolen fabric. Her accessories were composed of a moss green cloche hat and dark brown leather gloves and shoes In this particular contest, the over all appearance is very Im portant as well as the actual construction. The award was an exoeo se-paid trip to the Regional Contest, which is to be held December 18 in Nashville, Tennessee. Miss Eowdltch and Miss Mary Lamm, Sen ior Division winner, will be accompanied by Mrs. Ruby T. M’ller, CTothing Specialist with N. C. Extension Service. They will leave by plane from Roleigh. Mrs. Clyde Edwards, president of the County Council, presided. At 6:30 p. m. a ' Covered dish supper was enjoyed by home demonstration mem bers and their families. A total of 60 persons attended the meeting. Mrs. Troy Ray, member of the Burnsville Club, gave an inspiring devotional. The group was greeted by Mr. E. L. Dillingham, County Ex tension chairman. The program was present ed by four Heme Demonstra tion Clubs. Eumsville Club presented slides an commen tary on the Town of Burns ville; Arbuckle and Newdale Clubs gave a demonstration on kneading bread; Pleasant Grove told the group how to make a Christmas corsage. The Burnsville Club was awarded the Gavel for being the outstanding club during 1965.
