C. —A total of 510 students qualified for ranking on the dean’s list at Appalachian State Teachers College during the Fall quar ter, according to announce ment from the office of Dr. Kenneth Webb, Jr., dean of. students. In order to qualify for the dean's list, a student must achieve a B average or a grade point average of 3.00 on a minimum of 15 hours work and have no grade be low a C. DEER HUNTERS MAKE BIG HAUL The hunters In the Mount Mitchell Game Refuge made a good haul In the either sex two day deer hunt last week the 17th and 18th. According to Refuge Manag er Lee Boone 610 hunters checked in at the South Toe checking station on the 17th and 18th, and they brought down a total of 55 deer In the two days. At the Curtis Creek checking station 494 hunters registered and their take amounted to 34. Hun ters flocked In from practi cally the whole state, with a sprinkling from Tennessee and South Carolina. Need less to say a number of our local hunteik were on hand. TREE FOR GOVERNOR’S MANSION DELIVERED A Christmas tree for the Governor’s Mansion was de livered from Burnsville last Thursday. The tree, a bal sam fir from the Mt. Mit chell Forestry District, was fifteen feet tall. tree was a gift from the Yancey County Cham ber of Commerce. Ranger Helton Carmich ael and his U. S. Forestry associates from this district located and cut a tree suit able to deck the Governor’s hall. Present for the tree load ing at the county courthouse here Thursday morning were, Don Burhoe, president.. of the Chamber of Commer ce; Helton Carmichael, Dis trict Ranger; George Rob erts and James Fox. George Roberts of Roberts Chevrolet-Bulck, Inc. here furnished the truck to tran sport the tree, and James Fox made the delivery to Raleigh. Give Baby Sitter Number of the Fire Department
