Her bouquet was a white or - chid tipped in blue. Mrs. Jim England was the matron of honor. A friend of the bride, she is from Morgan ton, N. C. She wore a street length Empire gown of blue velvet and carried a white chrysanthemum tipped in blue. Mr. Leonard B. Hilemon served as his son's best man. A reception was held in the home of Rev. and Mrs. Hall immediately following the ceremony. Mrs. Ralph K. Wil son, Mrs. Floyd Hilemon Jr. and Mrs. E.J.Hall assisted at the reception. The couple went to Atlanta, Georgia for their wedding trip and will reside at Route 3, Burnsville on their return. Both the bride and groom ae freshmen at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. They are both graduates of Cane River High School. McMahan - Hopson Married m Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mc- Mahan of Route 2, Burnsville, N.C. announce the marriage of their daughter, Judy Lor - • raine McMahan to C1 ifto n Hopson Jr., son of Mr. and Nfe Clifton Hopson of Green Moun tain, N.C. The wedding took place in the Newdale Metho dist Church at 3:00 p. m. on December 25, 1969. Dr. Fred Atwater performed the double ring ceremony. The bride, given in mar - nage by her father, wore c a formal-length gown of white brocade satin and chapel l«gth train. The elbow-length veil of illusion was attached to a headdress of satin petals trim med with pearls. She carried a white Bible with white carna tions. The bride's sister, Mrs. Don ald Haines of Woodbine, Md. served as matron of honor. She wore a red wool dress and she carried one red carnation. Bridesmaids were Peggy McMahan, Violet Me Mah a n and Wanda Grindstaff. Their dresses were green velvet and they carried white carnations, Jimmy McMahan, bro th er of the bride, served as best man Ushers were Eddie Edwards and Junior Grindstaff. Mrs. McMahan, mother of the bride, chose a dark green suit with brown accessories. A corsage was white carnations. A reception was held in the Fellowship Hall of the church immediately following the ceremony. Those in charjp of the reception were Mrs. Bil ly Buchanan, cousin of the bride; Mrs. Glenn McMahan , aunt of the bride and Cora Lee 'Hus kins. Mrs. Hopson is a graduate of East Yancey High School ad is employed by Pam Manufac turing Co. of Micaville. Mr. Hopson is a graduate of Cane River High School. He served in the Marine Corps and is now employed byGlenßavei Mills of Burnsville. F. Robinson attended the Winter Furniture Market in High Point, N.C. The Market is exclusively for those in the retail distribution ofdxnffe furnishings and was held this year on January 19-22. * Mrs. Edwin Quinn and child ren of Kingsport, Tenn. are with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ray, this week. Dr. Quinn is attending to business in Roches ter, N.Y. - * Mrs. Vance McKinney was admitted to Yancey Hospit a 1 in Burnsville with pneumonia. * * For the past two weeks,Mr. and Mrs. Jay Edge and Mr. and Mrs. George Roberts have been visiting points of interest in Fla. King And Simmons United Miss Linda E. King and Wil liam R. Simmons were mar ried Saturday, January 10, at the Presbyterian Manse at Mi caville. The Rev. Bert Styles conducted the ceremony. Keith Styles served as the groom's best man, and Mrs. Keith Styles was matron of honor. The bride wore a white, street-length dress with an em pire waist. She is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence King of Route 2, Burnsville,N. C. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Summons of Route 5, Burnsville. Both are 1966 graduates of East Yancey High School. The bridegroom received his pro fessional training in States ville, and is presently em - ployed by Maud's Beauty Sa lon in Burnsville. The bride attended Western Carolina Uni , versity and is now employed by i Claude Vess in Burnsville. They will reside at Route 5, Burnsville.
