Surviving are the husband, Crawford Ayers j foir daughters, Mrs. Howard Bennett of Burns ville, Mis. Bob Masters of Erwin, Tenn., Mrs. Bruce Laws and Mrs. Junior Stump of Green Mountain; seven sons, Hobart Ayers, Erwin, Tenn., Osbum, Tom andßcyd Ayers of Green Mountain,Jack and Floyd Ayers of Bakersville and Jerry Ayers of Burnsville; four sisters, Mrs. Delia Hop son and Mrs. Bulo Gortney of Green Mountain, Mrs. Sudie Bailey of Unicoi and Mrs. Pan sy Jones of Mooresville, N.C.; 36 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p. m. in the Covey Rock Ehptist Church of which she was a member. Rev. Gilbert Adkins and Rev. Jonas Revis officiated and bur ial was in the Will Hughes Cemetery. MRS. SAM E. TILSON Mrs. Sam E. Tilson, 78,0 f Old Fort, died in a Marion Hospital Tuesday morning.9he was a native and former resi dent of Burnsville and had been living in McDowell County for the past 30 years. Surviving are two daughters, Mis. Bill Ball of Burnsville and Mb. Robert banning of Marion; two sons, John Tilson of Old Fort and David Tilson of Win ter Park, Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Jess Young of Burnsville and Mrs. Sue Loving of Demo crat; one brother, Hicks Ro bertson of Burnsville; 26 grand children and 17 great - grand children. Funeral services will be held at 2p. m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church at Old Fort. Rev. Teiry Thorpe and Rev. Dewey Hobbs will offi - ciate and burial will be in the Holcombe Cemetery in Burns ville. Honorable Mention An Honorable Mention went to White Oak Creek Commu nity in Yancey County in the judging of the Roadside Im provement Contest of the Wes tern North Carolina Communi ty Development Program for 1971. In an effort to beautify and improve their community, the White Oak Creek citizens disposed of 15 old junked cars in an old mine. Removal cost was sl2 per car.
