Tipton, a of Ylncey County, celebrated his 91st birthday on April 11. A retired fanner, Mr. Tipton has eight children, 36 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He makes his home with his first cousin, Buries Cannon. A special four-layer cake was baked especially for the occasion by Mrs. Issie- Cannon. Celebrates 88th Birthday Mary Jane Hensley cele brated • her eighty-eighth binhday on Sunday, April 11 with relatives and friends. She enjoyed a special birthday dinner prepared by Mrs. Robert Mode. Mrs. Hensley is a lifelong resident of Yancey County. She is one of a family of nine, and is the only surviving member. She still does the milking and cooking and her laundry. , Mrs. Hensley has one son, Mr. Horace Cox, and three grandchildren, Janet, Jody and Jane. Bruce Higgins Celebrates Birthday Bruce Gregg Higgins cele brated his 4th birthday on April 15. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Estel Higgins of Burnsville. Among the star members of the wrestling team is David Mnrphy, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Morphy el Route 1, Green Mountain. David, a senior at the N.C. School for the Deaf, Joined the team three years ago Just for kicks because Qwh Harold Deuel needed a 112 lb. weight class wrestler. Ho 1 became . good wroatier, this year wlimtng IS and losing 9 of his matches and showing much Improvement. One problem which faces the wrestling team is of funds to provide transportation, board and for the young men If they accept the Invitation to the Olympic Try oats for the Deaf.
