This event will be held on Sunday, August 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Community Building for all members, former mem bers, and adult guests. An appropriate program has been prepared, which will * include the playing of golden bells by an invited guest. During June, Clearmont, Pensacola and MicaviUe club members were asked to Join in a search for the best terrarium in Yancey County. 4-H’ers made terrariums to be entered in a contest. The rules were to gather local plants from the woods that would adapt to life in a terrarium, and transplant them in any glass container. The winners pictured left to right, are: eleven-year-old Jeff Haines from the Penrrcola Club, first place; Lisa Renfro, age 13, and Rhonda Renfiro, age 14, both from the Clearmont club, Second Place; and Marlene Renfro, age 16, from the Clearmont club, third place. Each participating member was successful in learning many different local wiidflowers. Twenty-eight girls entered the pageant in four age groups. Crowned Tiny Miss Spirit of ’76 was Kimberly Penland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Penland of Burnsville. Kimberly is five years old and will be going to kindergarten this fall. Tonya Vetice Allen was crowned Junior Miss Spirit of ’76. Tonya is thirteen years old and will be going to East Yancey Middle School and will be in the Bth grade. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Allen of Burnsville. Tina Banks was crowned Miss Spirit of ’76, and won an award for the prettiest sportswear in her age group. Tina la 14 years old and will be going to Mountain Heritage High School, in the 9th grade. Tina is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Banks of Burnsville. Kim Shape of Asheville was crowned Little Miss Spirit of ’76 in the pageant.
