Hughes lAndI And Oswald Vows Are Spoken Sandra Kay Hughes and Daniel Pascal Oswald chose the first day of their new life together Sunday, September 4. They exchanged vows in front of Rev. Alfred G. Garr at Garr Memorial Church, 7700 Wallace Rd., Charlotte, North Carolina. The bride is the daughter of Mr. S.C. Hughes and the late Jessie Hughes of Burns ville. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Oswald of ; Charlotte, N.C. Elaborate organ wedding music was presented by Rev. *Dan O. White, director of music for the’ nine-hundred ninety-five capacity church. Rev. Alfred G. ’Garr was vocalist. He sang “Because” accompanied Dby Rev. Dan 0. White prior to the double ring ceremony. After the wedding vows were exchanged a prayer was presented to the bride and groom at the kneeling bench by Rev. Garr singing “The Lord’s Prayer.” Given in marriage by Donnie Sherlyn Hughes, bro ther of the bride, she chose a formal gown of soft white polyester jersey and chiffon fashioned with a self fabric bond which encircled the empire waistline and tied in the back. Delicate venise lace and pearl beading held the band in place and formed the “U” neckline. Billowy soft chiffon formed the full bishop sleeves and lace trimmed cuffs. Venise lace also edged the A-line skirt and attached chapel train. Her veil featured two finger-tip tiers of illusion completely edged in Venise daisies cascading from a camelot cap trimmed in matching venise and pearls. The bride carried a white cascade of roses, stephanotis, baby’s breath and miniature carnation. Martha Hughes Chappell of Banner Elk, N.C. honored her sister by serving as matron of honor. She carried a large cluster of daisies with matching streamers. Bridesmaids were Angie Oswald, the groom’s sister, Carole Starnes and Mary Alexander, all of Charlotte. They were dressed in soft mist green gowns identical in style and fabric to that of the matron of honor with match ing headpieces and bouquets. Niki Leigh Chappell, niece of the bride, dispersed white rose petals from her basket, walking slowly down the aisle. Todd Anderson Chappell, nephew of the bride, walked alongside of Niki carrying a white satin pillow with baby’s breath and white streamers that held the rings of the bride and groom in place. Niki wore a formal gown of yellow chiffon with a white sheer overlay. Todd was attired in a white dinner jacket with black satin lapels with matching pants and bow tie. The groom chose his father as best man. The Ushers were Thomas Koerber of Mt. Holly, N.C., Michael Dougherty of Charlotte, Terry Chappell, brother-in-law of the bride. They were all dressed in formal attire like that of the groom. The bride gave her mother in-law three yellow miniature roses prior to the recessional. A wedding party was enjoyed by many out-of-town guests as well as close friends, of Charlotte. Cele brating their day as one, they shared the traditional wed ding cake which was held by six pedestals enclosed by a Kolor Flo Fountain under the first tier of the three tier cake. Love doves were place on the top tier for the cake’s crown. The bride was honored with several luncheons and bridal parties prior to her wedding. Mitchell Swingers Square Dance Club, according to J.C. and Gin Styles, Club co-presidents. The class will begin in October, and be held once a week thereafter. Each class session will last two hours. Enrollment is open to adults and teenage young people Jerry Biggerstaff of Marion, N.C. is the Club caller and class instructor. There is a nominal fee for the lessons. Persons interested in learning Western style square dancing cr those who would like to refresh their dancing should let their desires be known to the Club presidents or to any Club member before September 23. The Mt. Mitchell Swingers will have their bimonthly dance Friday, September 23 at 8 p.m. in the Burnsville Elementary Gym.
