C. - PHONE S37-S139 Congressman Recovering From Surgery Congressman Koy A. Taylor, who spent last week in Bethesda Naval Hospital in Washington following emergency gall bladder sirgery, will continue his convalescence this week with the aim of resuming a limited office schedule following the July Fourth weekend. Although forced to miss the vote last week on the controversial welfare reform bill, the Congressman arranged to be "paired against" final passage of the measure because of his objections to the guaranteed income provision. "Pairing" is a means by which congressmen who cannot be present for a recorded roll call vote can arrange to have the Congressional Record reflect how they would have voted, if present. Taylor's hospitalization also forced him to forego participation in a field trip to New York City last weekend by the House National Parks and Recreation Subcommittee to inspect the proposed Gateway National Recreation Area. Taylor is Chairman of the Subcommittee and had expected to lead the trip. The Subcommittee is being urged by the Nixon Administration to pass legislation to authorize the Department of Interior to acquire, develop and operate the 25,000- area located on the southern fringes of New York Harbor. Methodist Ministers The Rev. Frank B. Turner, left, is the new Methodist minister for the First United Methodist Church of Murphy. Muskies Stocked In Hi was see River North Carolina Wildlife employes stocked 300 tiny muskies in the Hiwassee River near Murphy late Monday afternoon. Bill Bonner of Franklin, the Wildlife biologist for this area, said the little muskies were received recently in a trade with the State of Pennsylvania, in return for striped bass from the hatchery at Weldon, in the eastern part of this state. The muskie is one of the most sought-after fresh-water trophies, known for its size and fighting abilities. Bonner said, however, that the muskies stocked here are of a smaller type than the huge 75-pound Wisconsin muskies which often are seen in sports magazines. The ones stocked here are of the Ohio stream muskie family, he said, and will attain a maximum size of about 25-30 pounds and four feet in length. The biologist said the baby muskies, about three inches long, were stocked at various spots between Murphy and Mission Dam.
