JONES CENTRAL HIGHLIGHTS by John Trent Pollock Everyone at Jones Central is busy getting ready for the 1967 1968 Homecoming Friday night, November 3. The Pep Club is sponsoring a big rally Thursday night at 5:30 with a bonfire, and for Friday they have requested that each student come dressed in red and white, the school colors. Each year the women of the P.T.A. sponsor a homecoming supper of barbecued chicken or barbecued pork with all the trim mings. The profits from this sup per go to benefit the Jones Cen tral Band. The students are ask ed to sell as many tickets as possible, and to make the com petition keener, the school of fers prizes to the highest two salesmen. The Rockets are scheduled to play the Panthers of East Duplin in their homecoming game. Last week the Rockets made a good showing of their power to the home spectators when they de feated North Duplin Rebels 46 7. They hope to rally again this week at the homecoming game. During the halftime of the game the Homecoming Queen of 1967-68 will be crowned. The different clubs and organizations in the school will each sponsor a candidate. The queen will be voted on by the Students on Fri day morning. The votes will be counted and that night the new queen will be crowned by last year’s queen, Diane Davis. The candidates this year are Peggy Houston, Kay Chase, Jac kie Hammond, Ellen Quinn. Wanda Howard, Sylvia Hargett, Donna Mallard, Cathy Pike, Jane Turner, Mitzi White and Teresa Pollock.
