Kinston Recreation Commission Gets Federal Grant to Help Bay Parkland Tuesday Kinston officials were notified by Congressmen Walter Jones and L. H. Fountain that the Department of Interior has approved a grant of $44,720 to the city recreation commission. This grant comes from fees collected by the federal govern ment for use of government owned recreational facilities. This particular grant will be matched by a similar amount to buy a 21%-acre site in North west Kinston, joining the Adkin Canal, and west of Heritage Street. The Kinston funds are part of the $330,000 recreation bond issue that was approved by Kin ston voters last year. Other projects in the working from this bond issue include de velopment of Southside Park in Lincoln City, renovation of the pool and recreation building at Emma Webb Park, construction of a multi-purpose building in the Teacher Memorial School area and improvements of lesser magnitude in all other city parks.
