Dr. and Mrs. Robert Long are spending some time in New Or leans. H. B. Phillips, of Newberry, S. C., spent several days in Roxboro last week. Dr. and Mrs. Spencer Woody are spending the week-end here. Mr. W. H. Harris, Sr., continues _ to improve after an illness of a bout a week. He expects to be out within a few days. Mr. S. H. Jones has returned home from Kinston where he has been since Christmas on account of the illness of Mrs. Jones. Mrs. Jones continues to improve, lat est reports indicate. J. T. W. Noell, was married to Lee JB. .Weathers of Shelby Saturday at high noon at the home of the bride’s par ents. Rev. W. F. West performed the ceremony, using the ring ser vice! of the Baptist church. ■Jiftd vows wet# spoken ifr -the music room, before an improvised altar of ferns Mth tall basfcetsof white Calla lilies, and seven branched candelabra holding burning tapers. A program of nuptial music was rendered by Mrs. Curtis Oak ley at the piano and included “Liebestraum” by Liszt, “An Old Trysting Place” and “To A Wat er Lilly” by McDowell. Mr. Jake Taylor sang “I Love You Truly” and ‘The Sweetest Story Ever Told.” Lohengjrin’s “Wedding March” was used as the proces sional, and during the ceremony | “Salut D’Amour” was rendered. The bride was attired in an afternoon gown of morning glory blue, with a small black hat, and carrying a small arm bouquet of pink orchids and val ley lilies, entered on the arm of her father, by whom she was giv en in marriage. Her only attendant was her sister, Mrs. W. E. Bowles, as ma tron of honor, who wore dusty pink with brown accessories. She carried an arm bouquet of talis man roses. The groom was attended by his best man, Henry Lee Weath ers of Shelby. Immediately after the cere mony, Mr. and Mrs. Noell enter tained the guests at a buffet luncheon. The dining room was attractively decorated in a color scheme of green and white, and decorations throughout the home further emphasized the bridal colors. The bride is the elder daughter of Former Senator and Mrs. J. W. Noell, and the widow of W. S. Clary, Jr., who for a number of years was buyer for Export Tobacco Co. The groom is a native of Shel by and is the son of Mrs. A. P. Weathers. He is editor and pub lisher of the Shelby Daily Star. Mr. and Mrs. Weathers left for Florida and Cuba immediate ly after the ceremony. For trav eling, the bride wore a tailored model of black and rose wool crepe, with a small black felt hat to match. She wore a shoul der corsage of orchids. After the seventh of February, Mr. and Mrs. Weathers will be at home in Shelby. Out of town guests were Mrs. A. P. Weathers, H. L. Weathers and Miss Pearl Weathers, Miss Lilly Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Smith and Mr. H. L. Kendall of Shelby; Governor and Mrs. Clyde R. Hoey, Dr. and Mrs. B. J.
