Miss Marjorie Griffin will lea ve Friday for New York where she will join other members of her family for a week’s visit to the World’s Fair and other points of interest. Norwood Newman is spending several weeks at Chimney Rock. Mrs. Clyde Clayton is a pat ient at Community hospital where she expects to undergo a major operation. Mrs. C .M. Michie and children and Miss Mary Louise Harris are spending this week with relatives in Salisbury. Mrs. Kenneth Oakley and son of Raleigh are spending several days here with relatives. E. G. Thompson left Tuesday for New York and the World’s Fair. He expects to be gone about a week. Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Harvey and Mrs. J. C. Walker were Dan ville visitors Wednesday. Mrs. Ola Long Evan§ spent tne past week in Richmond as guest of Mrs. L. C. Vaughan and P. W. Foster. ■ Miss Nellie Scott Featherston and Mrs. Elmer Featherston were Durham visitors Sunday. Mrs. Elmer Featherston has re turned to her home in Leasburg after spending some time with Mrs. J. M. Featherston. R. L. Harris, Jr. was a week end visitor with his parents here. Miss Bernice Raiff is spending several days In Philadelphia vis iting relatives. Miss Mary Elizabeth Sanders is spending several days in Martinsville with friends. Mrs. W. H. Gibson of Apex has been spending several days here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Hester. E. E. Thomas and George Tho mas were Richmond visitors Tuesday. I. C. H. Gibson of Apex gave a bridge-luncheon Friday at the home of their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Hester. The hostesses and Miss Weather spoon were school-mates at Meredith college. In a setting of garden flowers three tables were placed for con tract, Tallies and decorations carried the bridal motif. Follow ing a series of progressions, cards were put aside and a delightful luncheon was served. Miss Mary Sievers Woody and Miss Mary Hester assisted in serving. The guest list included: Miss Stuart Weatherspoon, honoree; Misses Anne and Margaret Wea therspoon of Raleigh; Miss Mary Frances Council, of Durham; Mesdames Ben Brown, A1 Martin, E. B. Craven, Jr., Franklin Long, Preston Satterfield, Jr., Robert E. Long, and Misses Ellen Brad sher, and Frances Morton, of Rox boro. Mrs. J. A. Long, Jr. and Miss Woody came in for lunch. C. Greensboro Girl Weds Bedford E. Love, Jr. In Chatham, Va. Saturday An announcement of wide spread interest in this locality is the marrige of Miss Virginia Reeves of Greensboro to Bedfora E. Love, Jr., well known young Roxboro native. According to the announce ment, the nuptials were solemn ized in Chatham, Va. Saturday and came as a distinct surprise to friends and relatives of the couple in this vicinity. The bride is a graduate of Greensboro college with this year’s class. Her father is one ot the leading tobacconists of the state, operating warehouses fn both Asheville and Fairmont. The groom, son of Dr. and Mrs. B. E. Love of this city, following his graduation from Roxboro High school attended Oak Ridge Military academy, Duke and the University of North Carolina. During the past tobacco season, he was connected with Liggett and Myers tdbacco company on the Henderson market. Miss Dorothy Rogister Becomes Bride Os P. T. Whitt, Jr. Saturday A wedding of distinct interest to their many friends in this and surrounding states was soldhiniz ed Saturday evening when Miss Dorothy Rogister became the bride of Preston T. Whitt, Jr. in South Boston, Va. The Methodist parsonage was the scene of the event with the Rev. Dunkley performing the ceremony. The bride is the attractive dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Ro gister of Scotland Neck. She has Mrs. T. B. Woody Bridge Hostess Mrs. T. B. Woodyrwas hostess last Thursday morning to her contract club at her home on North Main street. Guests were invited for 10:30 o’clock and after a number of rounds of contract luncheon was served on the card tables. Club members playing includ ed Mesdames E. V. Boatwright, R. P. Burns, E. E. Thomas, G. I. Prillaman, Arch Jones, John D. Morris and Curtis Oakley. Mrs. W. G. Bradsher was a special guest. Mrs. Boatwright was high scor er and received a prize. Mrs. Stewart Feted On Birthday On Sunday morning, June 11, many relatives and friends gath ered at the home of Walter Stew are celebrate Mrs. Stewart’s birthday. Everyone enjoyed talking with relatives and friends. At 11:30 the dinner, was spread picnic style on a lung table on the front lawn. The table was well filled with many fine cakes and many other tempting foods with everyone en joying it. The group was also accompan ied by Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Warren and E. T. Wrenn, who re turned home early in the week. Bethel Hilll Personals Miss Dorothy Brooks of Atlan ta, Ga. has been visiting her mo ther, Mrs. R. P. Brooks. She re turned to Atlanta Sunday. Miss Huldah Hall left last Mon day for summer school at Mars Hill college, Mars Hill, N. C. Mr. C. T. Hall spent Monday and Tuesday in Graham on busi ness of the Production Credit as sociation. The many friends of Mrs. Char lie Raines are glad to know she has returned home from the hos pital and is getting along nicely.
