ENLISTS IN MARINES Norman Eugene Gallion, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gallion of Asheville and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Nanney and Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Gallion of Black Moun tain, enlisted in the Marine Corps and left for Parris Island Feb. 18 for his basic training. TO LIVE HERE Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Simmons of Winston-Salem spent last Friday with Mrs. H. B. Kerlee. The Sim mons are former residents of Black Mountain and plan to return around the first of the month to make their home here. HERE FROM GREENVILLE Mr. and Mrs. Rychen Kennedy and Mrs. Georgia Brown came up from Greenville, S. C., last Tues day for a short visit in town. Talented Artists Visit Oak Knoll N. I*. Steinberg, well-known painter ami etcher, and Mrs. Steinberg, Chicago, 111., visited the Alesnires over last week end. Mr. Steinberg was born in Cairo, Egypt, is widely travelled, and has been highly trained as an artist. He has received awards in both national and international exhibitions. Mrs. Steinberg is a singer. She gave a program of songs and led the patients in group singing at the Red Cross coffee hour Sun day night at Swannanoa VA hos pital.
