Ostrom, a retired missionary from Japan, died early Wednesday at Rridewood where she had made her home for the past five years. Funeral services were held this morning at Red Springs, N. C., where her only sister, Mrs. J. E. Purcell, resides. Mrs. Ostrom and her husband, the late Dr. Ostrom, went to Japan as missionaries in 1910. She returned to the States following his death in 1937. She came to Rridewood to make her home shortly after that time. ouucncrn union Conference of fice, Atlanta, Ga., as well as mis sionaries from overseas, will be featured during the week’s meet ings. H. M. S. Richards, Los Angles, Calif., Voice of Prophecy speaker, the denomination’s world - wide weekly radio broadcast, will speak at the opening service Sunday night, and nightly through Wednes day night. The King’s Heralds radio quartet, Miss Del Delker, contralto soloist, who sing in sev eral different languages for the Voice of Prophecy broadcast heard in other countries, will also be on these evening programs, Mr. Lauda said. He also announced a professional “fellowship meeting” of the physi cians, dentists, ministers, and teachers preceding camp meeting. This fellowship meeting, designed to bring spiritual power to the professional leaders of the con ference, will open Friday, May 23, and will close Saturday night. Teresa Dougherty Has Birthday Party Mrs. Charles A. Dougherty en tertained with a party to honor her daughter, Teresa, on her sev enth birthday, Wednesday, May 14, at their home on Vance ave nue. Games suitable for the oc casion were enjoyed by the group. Birthday cake, ice cream, punch and candy were served by the hostess to Becky Hudson, David Cordell, Billy Raines, Joyce Byrd, Billy Hudson, Ann Beddingfield, Joyce Ann Marret, and the hon oree. Mothers present were Mrs. Frank Hudson and Mrs. Woodrow Beddingfield. ROCKY MOUNT DATE The Rev. James E. Rogers, chaplain at Swannanoa Division of VA hospital, will preach Sun day morning at the First Metho dist church at Rocky Mount. Mrs. Rogers and children, Anne, Patty and Louise, will visit Mrs. Rogers’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Mc Keithen at Florence, S.
