They accompanied Mrs. Perley home fol lowing her visit with Mr. and Frank Perley in Huntington, and to seeing Miss Marion Perley off to Europe for a three months’ study. Miss Mary Pananes and father, James Pananes, left Tuesday for a 10-day stay at Bradenton, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. William Norton of Chapel Hill and Asheville were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray McSwain. Arthur Hemphill, Jr. left last Saturday with the North Carolina National Guard for maneuvers at Ft. McClellan, Ala. Mr. and Mrs. Grover Barnhill and daughter, Margaret, of Nor folk left Thursday (today) after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Tom my Bartlett and Ronnie and Lawrence Barnhill and daughter, Flo. A. F. Tyson, Jr. will return Thursday (today) from attending the furniture show in High Point. Mr. and Mrs. Mack Adams of Tomahawk road spent the week end at Lake Tacoa near Hender sonville. They attended the young adult assembly of the Methodist church. Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Riddle had as Sunday guests Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mostiller and son, James, of Glenwood and Mrs. Riddle’s brother, Robert Duckworth, who had just been discharged from Oteen hospital and was on his way to his home in Morganton, and Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Golightly. Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Wyrick and Cecelia had as week end guests Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rusty, Miss Nancy Spake and Pete Brown, all from Salisbury. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn M. Simmons and children, Cindy and Buddy, of Charlotte, who recently pur chased the Alderman home on the North Fork road, have moved here to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bernhardt and Jerry of Atlanta returned home Monday after spending the holidays With Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bernhardt and Philip and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bernhardt and Bev erly of Atlanta were also week end guests of June 28, of the Bern hardt family. Ernest Wilkinson left Saturday for Ft. McClellan, Ala., for man euvers for two weeks with the North Carolina National Guard. Mrs. Wilkinson and children, Ernest Jr. and Marguerite, will * visit relatives in Asheville while he is away. Dr. Robert Mann of the mathe matics department of the Univer sity of North Carolina is spending a few days with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Berg thold, Last Resort. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Herron had as guests over the week end their sons, John Jr. of Portsmouth, Va., and Paul Herron, EN2 of the U. S. Navy, Norfolk, and Paul’s friend, John Rainbolt, YN1, also of the navy, Norfolk. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Ledford of Whitefield, N. H., have returned home after spending a week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Melton and Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Ledford of Johnson City, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. McKenny and Kenneth of Havelock, N. C., are spending several weeks with Mrs. McKinny’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kerlee, Sr. Mrs. L. B. Bedenbaugh and daughter, Eleanor, and sister-in law, Miss Leola Bedenbaugh, all of Prosperity, S. C., were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. C.
