Sharp and-Mrs. Ann Sharp Harrison have returned to their home at Blue Ridge after a tour of Guatemala and Peru, where they went to continue their study of Mayan, pre-Inca and Inca civilizations and to photograph the ruins of the present civilizations and the descendants of these Ind ians. Both Mrs. Sharp and Mrs. Harrison lecture on archeology. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Tarbert at tended the installation service of the Eastern Star in Bryson City last Monday night. Miss Sarah Kitchen left last Sunday for a three weeks’ stay in Washington, D. C. She will study art under Fredrick Witton and visit relatives while she is away. The Tabernacle Methodist church held a fellowship supper at the church on Tuesday night. March 21. It was well attended. Mrs. Jennie Lee Shuman is visiting relatives in Salisbury for several weeks. Her daughter, Mrs. Florence MatKenzie of Dunham, ac companied her to Salisbury fol lowing a visit here for several days. Mrs. L. A. Gurry has returned from a month's visit with rela tives and friends in Deland and other points of Florida. Mrs. George Godfrey spent the week end of March 26 in Newark, N. J.. with her husband Sgt. God frey, who sailed March 30 for a tour of duty in Austria. Mrs. God frey made the trip by plane. She expects to join him sometime this summer. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Greene left Monday for a 10-day vacation at their home in Cocoa. Fla. Wade Rice and Mrs. Rice will arrive sometime this week from Panama City, Fla. Mrs. Rice will remain here with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hig ginbotham. while Sgt. Rice is in Washington. D. C., taking special training. Mrs. Clarence Frady has re turned home after a three weeks visit in Emporia. Fla., with Mr and Mrs. J. B. Stone. Among the places she visited were Daytona Beach, Flagler Beach. St. August ine, Silver Springs. Cypress Gard ens, Tampa and St. Petersburg. The highlight of her visit was a boat ride on the Atlantic ocean, and a trip across Tampa Bay on the new Skyline bridge. The bridge is 15 miles long and extends from St. Petersbrug to Brandenton. Mr. and Mrs. J. 0. Williams returned Monday from a month's vacation in Melbourne. Fla. On their way down they stopped in Apopka. Fla., to visit Dr. and Mrs. George L. Pritchard F.n route home they visited the Mid dleton gardens in Charleston and their children in Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. J P Williams and Wayne, and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Evans. Kathy and Jean. They also stop ped in Marion for several days tv, visit another daughter and fam ily. Mr. and Mrs. James K. Wilk inson. James K. Jr.. Dorothy Jean and Debbie. During the past 10 days the fol lowing people have attended the installation services of the differ ent O.E.S. chapters: March 23. Mrs. H. E. Stinchcomb. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Tarbert. and Mrs. A. L. Sim mons visited the Oak Leaf chap ter O.E.S., Canton. On March 25 the same group visited Hender sonville O.E.S. 61. Saturday night. March 26. Mrs. Enna Dieber. Mrs. Cecil Ham, Mrs. Madelon Parks. Mrs. H. E. Stinchcomb. Mrs. Cortez Gaskins, Mr. and Mrs. Tarbert, and Mrs. Simmons attended installa tion in Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Guess left Monday for a month’s vacation in Winter Haven and Sarasota. Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Fortune returned to their home here last Thursday after spending the winter in Long Beach, Calif. _ Mr." and Mrs. Clarence Wilson and children have moved from Connally street to their new home on Louisa street. Mr. and Mrs. Burton Osteen. Preston and David, have moved from Rhododendron avenue to one of the A. J. Hemphill cottages on the Ridgecrest highway. Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Wyrick and Cecelia will spend the week end with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. T. Lem Miller and Mr. and Mrs. A E Wyrick of Salisbury. Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Circle no. 2 Mrs Noyes Wilson, chairman, will have an all-day meeting in the home of Mrs. L. Nelson Bell on Assemble drive. The meeting will begin at 11 o'clock with a covered dish luncheon. Mrs. Collins Leo will tell of her trip to India in the afternoon meeting. The Bu> mess Woman's circle will meet at 7 45 p.m. in the Wedgewood apart ments with Mrs. Harold Frantz Mrs Victor Schoen and Mrs. Doug al Monroe are co-hostesses. The praver meeting is held each Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the sun parlor of the Inn and at 7:30 p.m in Gaither chapel. Forty voung people from the Oakdale Presbyterian church near Clover. S C„ will be in Montreal for a few days this week. Mr. and Mrs. John P. Williams are returning this week from a short vacation in Florida. They visited St. Petersburg, Clearwater Sarasota, Miami. Palm Beach, Met bourne. St Augustine, and other points. Mrs. C. B. Medford, who has been in Charlotte all winter, is now spending the summer with her daughter and son-in-law. the Rev and Mrs. John R. Williams, in their home on Assembly drive Mr. and Mrs. James Waldin of Charlotte made a short visit with the Williams this past week. The Rev. John R. Williams will conduct a series of evangelistic services in First Presbyterian church. Florala. Ala , April 10-17 Dr. and Mrs. J. Rupert Me Gregor will leave Montreat on April 11 for New York City and on the 13th they will sail on the SS Queen Mary for a two-week stay in Glasgow. Scotland, at the invitation of Dr. Billy Graham They will visit points of interest in England for a week before re parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. R Sink of Winston-Salem. Miss Peggy Williams of Meredith college, Raleigh, arrived Tuesday to spend the holidays with her parents. Mr and Mrs. Bob Will iams. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Dickens. Wayne and Thomas, will spend the week end with relatives in Halifax. Miss Jane Terrell arrived home Wednesday from W. C P N C'.. Greensboro, to spend the Faster holidays with her parents Mi and Mrs. Albert J. Terrell Rear Admiral G. C Crawford •and Mrs. Crawford of Charleston. S. C., are spending this week at their home "Forklift". Their daugh ter Miss Marilyn Crawford of Chapel Hill joined them here Wednesday for a few days visit. Another daughter and famih Dr and Mrs. C. W. Arrendell Jr live in Beverly Hills. Asheville. Dr. Ar rendell has established offices in the McGraw Medical building here. Mr. and Mrs. M. C Dickens. Sarah.
