SIRL tCOCT NEWS Girl Scout Troop 51 met at St. James Episcopal parish house Mon day, Jan. 28. Miss Sarah Kitchen assisted the group in making pup pet heads. After an afternoon of work, water, flour, paper, light bulbs, and scout members were all mixed up together. Although lit tle glue was carried home on our uniforms. The troop met again on Monday, Feb. 4, to continue work on their puppet heads. Buttons and card board noses and shirts were put on them. They are beginning to look like fairy characters. Mr. Clayton brought us the message Sunday night and we had one from another church for baptism, Daniel Russell. Our W.M.U. met Feb. 5 at church. After our lesson, “Like a Watered Garden,” our hostesses, Ruth Lunsford and Betty Cordell, served refreshments. The follow ing people attended: Mrs. Harry Morris, Doris Jolly, Doris Clay ton, Maude Morris, Lucille Mor ris, Betty Cordell, Ruth Lunsford, Edna Brookshire, Pansy Willet, and Pearl Burnett. Some of our financial gains in the past few7 months: We have increased the amount we send to the Buncombe Baptist association, and also the pastor’s salary. Also Rev. and Mrs. Gibbs visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lytle last Sunday afternoon. Mr. Lytle has been confined to a wheel chair for Several years. We had as guests last Sunday our son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Elliott of Marion and Elmo Elliott and children, Clinton, Pattie, and Kay of Old Fort.
