C.. drove her home. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Allen have gone to Ft. Pierce. Fla. Mrs. Allen will resume her job as teacher in the Fort Pierce schools. Misses Gertrude Laing and Martha Noell of the executive staff of Koinonia Foundation of Baltimore. Md.. are house guests of Mrs. Mary E. Aleshire and Miss Ruth C. Aleshire at Oak Knoll studios. While here they will all attend the pageant, “The Wilder ness Road” at Berea, Ky., and visit other points of interest and beauty in the area. Maltison Aids Mineral Display lor Eastern States Volunteers, among them Boyd S. Mattison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gor man E. Mattison of Black Moun tain, were active as hosts and ar rangers of exhibition materials for last week’s three-day convention , and exhibit of the Eastern Federa tion of Mineral Societies at the i Asheville Municipal auditorium. With the formal sessions of the ’ show having been concluded on , Saturday, members of the arrange ments committee were busy over the week-end and early this week dismantling the show and also leading in field trips to various ' mineral deposit locales in West ern North Carolina. Mr. Mattison 3 was active on this committee and has spent the past several weeks ■ at his parents’ home while aiding 1 in making advance preparations for the show which was attended by * several thousand mineral collectors and specialists from Maine to the Canal Zone. The Southern Appal achian Mineral society, of which he is a member, was host for the program. Exhibits were insured for more than $1,000,000. The Federation j is made up of 33 rock, mineral and lapidary groups east of the Mis I sissippi. Mr. Mattison has attended the University of North Carolina, ma joring in geology. He was grad uated from Charlotte college, and from Summit school, Winston-Sa lem. Elis wife, and daughters, Susan and Kim, visited at the Mat tison home here last week. HI AND TRI-Y'S END CONGRESSES ON AUGUST 16 The final week of three week long Hi-Y and Tri-Y congresses ended hare on Saturday, Aug. 16. Attendance from 10 southern states for the second and third week has averaged over 460 for each of the two weeks. Over 110 attended the first week congress. The congresses were under direc tion of Ben Duff, an assistant area executive for the Southeastern Y. M. C% A. William E. Hansen, as sistant area executive for the state of Virginia, is registrar for the congresses. CIRCLE WOMEN HEAR OF GRAHAM'S CRUSADES The Business Woman’s circle of the Swannanoa Presbyterian church held its annual picnic Mon day night, Aug. 11, at the home of Mrs. J. L. Connelly in Grove mont. Dr. and Mrs. Nelson Bell of Montreat were special guests. Dr. Bell very interestingly told about the work and the places in which Billy Graham, his son-in-law, has held crusades.
