Star Gives Burke Booster Publicity (Morganton New Herald) The Brown Mountain light liar, come in for a share of addition;; publicity recently, for whirl' we nr>‘ thankful. We should have no objec tion to continued discussion or tins subject. The more it gel talked about, then the greater the number of people who will be attracted to nr investigation of the “mysterieu • light and of the mountain country where it can be seen. And that x one of the things wo want-—that others share and appreciate \v,th us. the beauty op our mountains. Burke county got some fine public ity in the Brown Mountain article re cently published in “Light,” a nation ally read magazine, -ibis art a It* re produced in part in a recent is no 01 “The Literary Digest,” as widely cir culated possibly as any American magazine. With a good road up the mountain to Jonas Ridge we may expect great er number of tourists and ethers, to make the trip to set* the famous light. What difference do s it make what it is or what cause.; it? If the mystery were solved to everybody’s satisfaction a part of the attraction would be lost. Wo hope all the ivaws papeif’- will keep on guessing and commenting at doe- the Shelby Star in a paragraph in Tuesday’s issue; “Several weeks back, Wc wondered what North Carolina would do for news with the Cole trial over and the football season ended. The’ mys terious light of Brown Mountain if. our answer. When news gets, bum some writer prophesies at a new an gle about, the light, and on it goes. It would he a near calamity for news* paperdom if the mystery of the light Was revealed."
