THROWS GASOLINE ON NEGRO HOLDING BVRMNG MATCH Beaufort. S. C,—Charged with ' throwing a bucket of gasoline on a "friend" who held a match. Sher man Washington, negro, was held in jail here to await action of the grand jury. James Carter, negro victim, of the burning, died in a hospital His wife, who was burned at the same time, will recover. According to testimony at the in quest, Washington went to Carter's home with a bucket of gasoline. Finding Carter in bed. Washington is said to have asked him to strike a match, and as he did so, threw the gasoline on him. The house was destroyed by fire. Washington was captured a few * hours later. He is also charged with arson. She Closed the day by reeling in a largo Grouper. RED AND WHITE DAHLIA GROWING ON SAME STEM Asheville.—A freak dahlia was discovered by Mrs. W. B. Nesbit of Fairview in her flower garden re cently when she found two perfect ly formed dahlias, one white and one dark red on the same stem. The two blooms on the same stem are about eight inches apart. The white dahlia has a pink tint in the center, but is otherwise a per fect white bloom, whereas the red one is dark throughout in its color ing. Tlhey are both about three
