Mr. and Mrs. Everett Allison and daughter and Mr. Tom Rippy of Try-on were the guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Moss. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Randall, of Asheville, and Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Randall, of Rock Hill, S. C. visited relatives in the community Sunday. Mr. Wade Austell of Charlotte spent the week-end with his father Mr. S. H. Austell. Miss Alma Wylie who has been suffering from tonsilitis is able to be out again. Miss Freelove Crawford a stud ent of Boiling Springs junior col lege who has been confined to her bed with pneumonia is improving at this writing. Mrs. Ruffin Crawford has been the victim of influenza. Rev. and Mrs. J. L. Jenkins of Boiling Springs were pleasant call ers on the sick in the community Tuesday afternoon. Mr. B. F. Jones rAurned to. his work in Milledgeville. Ga., after a week's stay in the village. Mr. and Mrs. Austell Bettis and Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Bettis motored to Rock Hill, S. C. Sunday after noon. Mr. Heyward Austell, formerly with the Standard Oil company, Shelby has accepted a' position as tobacco salesman and left Saturday for Jacksonville, Florida, where he assumes his new position. Mr. and Mrs. George Washburn and little Betty Lowe of Shelby spent Sunday at the Bettis home. Mr. and Mrs, Bill Sufford and family of Antioch visited Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Crawford Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Haas and children of Gastonia, are spending a couple of weeks In the village, the guests of Mr. and Mrs, W. C. Sar ratte. Mr. Summie Sarratte left Tues day for Durham to accept a posi tion. Mr. and Mrs. Bryson Hambright Grover visited In the village Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Basil Goode of Shelby were the dinner guests Sun day of Mr. and Mrs. B. Austell. The Ladies Domestic club gave a dinner Wednesday, February 27, at :he home of Mrs. Loyd Wylies. The dinner was scheduled as follows, :ach preparing a dish: Mrs. R. E. Nichols, vegetable, turnip greens; Mrs. W. D. Earl, vegetable, creamed Irish potatoes; Mrs. Bud Hause. neat, beef roast; Mrs. Dave Moss, sread, com muffin; Miss Faye Mc Swain, bread, biscuits; Mrs. O. F. \ustell, drink, hot cocoa: Mrs. B. kust'll and Miss Leitha Bettis, des sert, boil custard; Mrs. Loyd Wylie, ievil food cake. After this, dinner vas prepared by these faithful and oving hands. E Gantt and children spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Craig Runyans. Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Melton spent Saturday night at Gaffney with relatives. Mr. end Mrs. James Vaughn moved to Kings Mountain last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Lattimore had as their guests Sunday Mrs. Lee Champion and baby, Mrs. Tal Wal lace and children, all of Lawndale. Mrs. R. O. Bumgardner Is re cuperating from a severe Illness at her mother’s on S. LaFayette street. She was in the Shelby hospital for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Burgln Lazenby vis ited Mrs. Lazenby’s parents Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Warren of Charlotte spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Alexander. Mrs. J. B. Gladden and daugh ters, Misses Minnie and Maggie, and Mrs. E. G. Gladden and little daughter visited friends at Gaff ney Sunday afternoon.
