Cotton sure does pick J easily this year. Most any body can ij pick 200 pounds per day. Dennis' Sam picked 385 pounds one day, Mrs. S. A Sain 304. a girl over in Lincoln county picked over 400 lbs. each ’ day for four successive days. J Mr. W. C. Powell of near Polk- j vlllc was a visitor in the commun- ji sty last Monday. He is a great cot- [ ton farmer and has not raised any wheat for 13 years. He states that lie is sowing wheat this fall. He vys that farmers cannot afford to raise 10 cent cotton and buy bread. We were glad to have with us at Carpenters Grove for Sunday school j on last Sunday the following from St. Peters Sunday school as visitors: Mr, and Mrs. C. G. Boyles. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Willis, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hoyle and family and Mr. Henry Queen. The Willis-Quecn orchestra made music with the singing. On second Sundays the Sunday school and preaching services are in the afternoon at St. Peters. Mrs. H. E. Hartman and son. Mr. Dewey, and daughter. Miss Altie Hartman, spent last Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rhoney of Catawbft county. The crops are very good and farmers appreciate these fine days. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Blanton are the proud parents of a fine daugh ter. born October 15. Mrs. Blanton before marriage was Miss Viola Nol an. daughter of Mr and Mrs. I. B. Nolan. Several people from our church attended the association at Patter son Springs last week: Our B. Y. P, U.s were well represented at the B. Y. P. U. hour Thursday night. The play “The Vision of B. Y. P. U." was given by our union. The many friends of Mrs. R. W. McCurry will be sorry to learn of her serious illness at her home. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Cleatis MeSwain October 9. a dainty daugh ter. Mrs. A H. Galloway and little daughter, Nancy, jr.. of Martinsville, Va. have been at the bedside of Mrs. Galloway’s sister. Mrs. R. W. McCurry and visiting other rela tives. Mr. and Mrs. O. Z. Morgan and children spent Sunday with their parents, Mr, and Mrs. Joe Morgan. Miss Selma Callahan spent, Sun day with Miss Lena Bridges, Mr. and Mrs. Arhtur Jarrett of Charlotte spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. R. W McCurry and family. Words of Appreciation.
