A Bulck driven by Mrs. Ida Pat terson. of Kings Mountain, who ap parently lost control of her machine after narrowly escaping a collision with a second Bulck driven by R. c. Hubbard of the Arkray community, left the pavement, climbed a hedge, ran across a narrow porch, and plunged through the front wall of the old Meek Adams home on South Chester street about 2:15 o’clock Saturday afternoon. * There were several women in the car with Mrs. Patterson, officers said, but none was hurt. Mrs. Patterson drove her car on its way as toon as it was pulled from the house to the street. Officers who investigated the pec-, uliar, accident said they thought the Patterson and Hubbard cars sldeewlped one another, causing Mrs. Patterson to lose control of her machine to the extent that it left the street and plunged against the house, It was said-that the hood pt the car was completely inside toe house after the accident. The house was vacant, officers said. Alda Sain Weds J. P. Houser. Snow Interrupts Christmas. Miss Edith Sain Entertains. Toluca, Dec. 30.—Everything was very quiet in this community din ing the Christmas holidays. Miss Alda Sain daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Sain and Mr, J. P. Houser of Lincoln county motored to South Carolina Christmas eve and were happily married. Due to the bad weather the Christ mas trees were not very successful in this community. The following boys and girls are spending the Christmas holidays with their respective parents: Misses Irma Carpenter and Selma Propst from Boiling Springs, Mr. Fletcher isain from the University; Miss Sadie Mull from N. C. C. W., Greens boro. Rev. and Mrs. Ralph Carpenter of Boiling Springs, Messrs. Frank Hous er and DeVaughn Boyles of Boon::, were Christmas visitors in the com munity. Miss Edith Sain teacher of Pit.ts boro, and Mr. John A. Hallman who teaches in the Eastern part of the state are at home for the holidays. Mr. Clarence Cook drew the sew ing machine, Mr. Jim Hoyle the waslistand aria Miss Mittie Sain drew the $5 worth Of goods, given away by Mr. D. H. Martin from the Rawletgh company at Toluca on Lost Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Sain and son Thaxter were dinner guests at the home of Mr. Sains brother, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Sain of Hickory last Mon • day. Miss Edith Sain entertained the Epworth league of St. Peters with a party at her home on last Friday night. The room was beautifully de corated with holly, mistletoe and Christmas decorations. Many inter esting games were played after which refreshments were served. The ones present were Misses Meriel and Maie Edwards, Ola Brackett., Mary Agnes Willis, Elvte Hartman, Messrs. Carl, Lee and Paul W11U3, Floyd and Hovls Hallman, Frank Houser and McCoy Young. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Goodson of Hickory, spent Christmas day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Carpen ter. Misses Ola Maie Brackett and Male Edwards of Belwood spent Christmas night with Miss Meriel Edwards. Several have been on the sick list for the past while: Mr. F. A. Boyles, Miss Mittie Eain, Mrs. M. S. Boy les and Dewey Hartman. They are improving at this writing. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Carpenter vis ited at the hcmc of Mrs. Carpen ter's father Mr. D. J. Sain. Christ mas day. Mr. Fletcher Sain has as his guest through the holidays his cousin Mi Hal Sain of Hickory. Mr. Carol Mull of Charlotte spent Christmas with his mother Mrs. P M. Mull.
