Advance Auto Parts Store Opens
Advance Auto Pans will open its

Shalloite at 10 a.m. today (Thur
sday).

Brunswick Community College
Industrial Education Center in
Leland, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Operators Council, the workshop
will be presented by Keith Ratliff of
the N.C. Department of Labor.

Program Offered
An evening program will be ot
tered by Brunswick Community
College next year for those who
want to be come nursing assistants.
The curriculum course will be of
fered over two quarters starting Jan.
7. Enrollment is limited to the lirst
10 students who register, indicated

first quarter, students will be eligible
for listing as a Nurse Aide 1 with the
North Carolina Board of Nursing
Central Registry and can enroll lor
the second quarter of the certificate
program.
After completing the second quar
ter of studies they will be eligible
for a BCC nursing Assistant II cer
tificate and listing as a Nurse Aide II
with the central registry.
Registration will be held Monday.
Jan. 6, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. only in
the nursing lab. Room 113,
Classroom Building, on BCC's main
campus north of Supply. Cost is
$93.10 for tuition and student insur
ance fees and S33.70 for books,
payable in two separate checks.
Additional fees will be announced
the first class meeting Jan. 7 at 6
p.m.
At that time exact class hours will
be announced as well. Classes will
meet Monday through Thursday
evenings, after 6 o'clock.

of the first "Best Decorated Store
front" contest held by the South
Brunswick Islands Chamber ol
Commerce.
Theirs was one of nine local busi
nesses to enter the contest, said
Holly Richards, executive vice pres
ident of the chamber. The event was
held in conjunction witii the
chamber's "Home For The
Holidays" shopping campaign.
"They won for originality and
creativity," said Ms. Richards.
"Everything they did was home
made. Ii was just beautiful."

Jan Floyd and Patty Davis recent

munity College in conjunction with
the Chiropractic Assistants Associa
lion of North Carolina.
Ms. Floyd completed a one-year
program and in now a certified chi
ropractic assistant. Ms. Davis com
pleted a two-year course to become
a certified chiropractic nurse.

lotte/Ocean Isle at Ocean Isle.

tification in their professional fields.
Nancy Ricdinger, R.N., of Sunset
Beach, nurse manager of the Family
Centered Nursing Unit, received
certification by the National Certi
fication Corporation in the special
ties of obstetric, gynecologic and
neonatal nursing.
Peggy Raber of Wilmington, di
rector of dietary services, received
certification as a certified dietary
manager.
Ms. Ricdinger has been in obstet
ric/gynecologic nursing for 26 years.
She is a member of the national or
ganization for obstetric/gynecologic
and neonatal nurses, and teaches
childbirth classes to emergency
medical technician students for the
Calabash Emergency Medical
Service. She and her husband,
Morgan, arc both former members
of Calabash EMS.
Her certification is recognition of
demonstrated special knowledge and
commitment to providing a high
standard ol patient care and to serv
ing as a role model toothers.
Ms. Raber has spent 1 1 years in
heal tti care food service. She is a
member of the Wilmington YWCA
and the Southeastern Dietary Mana
gers Association of North Carolina.

Managers recognizes individuals for
management skills, financial plan
