Shallotte Man Gets Suspended Jail Term In Ash Shootina A 39-ycar-o!d Shallolte man was given a suspended jail scnicncc in Brunswick County District Court last week after admitting guilt in the Sept. 2 shooting of an Ash man. Kenneth Earl Stanley of Route 4 pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of assault with a deadly ..>A'irv\n Ua \?ioc tr\ n ? ?V ? ? The judge also put Stanley on two years probation and ordered him not to harass or threaten prosecuting witness lesom Nathaniel Stevenson for two years. The pistol Stanley used in the shooting was ordered de stroyed. Stanley had been charged with felonious assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury af ter the incident Police at the time said Stanley shot Stevenson in the leg after the two got into an argu ment at a mutual friend's home in Ash. Stevenson had gotten into his car and was trying to leave when Stanley allegedly walked up to the driver's side window and fired one shot, the investigating officer said. In three days of District Court last week. Judge Napoleon Barefoot Jr. heard cases Monday and Tuesday, while Judge Jerry Jolly presided Wednesday. Assistant Disuici Attor ney Melody Hayes offered evidence for the state. Other defendants who appeared in court last week, with their charges, pleas and sentences include: Richard B.
