Shalloife A 69-year-old Shallottc woman told police that someone broke into her mobile home, entered her bed room and attempted to rape her early Sunday morning, according to a crime report on file at the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department Monday. The woman told Deputy Phil Bryant that she was awakened at about 1 :30 by someone in her room who was rubbing her legs and feel ing her breast. Bryant's report quotes the intrud er as saying to the woman, "You arc so pretty. I need you and I got to have you." The victim said she started screaming and "probably hit the as sailant with a flashlight," Bryant re ported. The man then ran out the door and left No arrest had been made Noonday. An investigation is continuing. In other crime reports on file at the sheriffs department Monday: ?A Leland man said he was stand ing outside a local bar when some one hit him in the mouth and the back of the head, knocking him out Sunday night. The victim told Detective Charlie Miller that "he did not see the suspect hit him. All he remembers is waking up in New Hanover Hospital." The man said he had been talking to his attacker and did not think there were any prob i tl - ..u IVIIId. 1IIV Tivuill IV/IU 1T11UVI uiui uav other man had been drinking. ?Two men said someone fired a ri fle at them while they were riding three-wheeled recreational vehicles in the Sandy Creek area Saturday af ternoon, Deputy Cathy Hamilton re ported. The men said they were rid ing near under the power lines off U.S. 74-76 when a woman stepped out of her mobile home and asked them to stop. As the two men ap proached the trailer, they said some one started shooting at them from a nearby field. The woman yelled a warning and the two rode off. ?Someone stole a $3,000 gasoline powered brick saw from the T.A. Loving Company on U.S. 17 Thursday night. An employee re ported the theft to Deputy Randy Robinson Friday morning. No other information was given in the report. ?A man who claimed to be having a seizure, but was later determined to be drunk, was blamed for causing Woman, CRIME REPORT $1,800 damage to a car parked at the home of a Shallolte man early Sunday morning. The owner told Bryant he was watching television when he heard a pounding sound under his carport. He looked outside to see a man behind the wheel of a small camper. "The subject advised him he was having a seizure and for him to call 911," the report said. Rescue workers later determined the man had been drinking. ?A billfold containing SI ,500 cash and $855 in checks was reported stolen from a vehicle Saturday after noon. The victim told Deputy Rebekah McDonald that her purse containing the money was in the ve hicle when her son drove to an auto parts store in Shallotte. When he re turned at about 4:30, the purse was gone. The billfold was later found behind the River Run Shopping Center near Southport. The checks were still inside, but the cash was missing. ?A shotgun, a video camcorder, some antique crystal and $50 in change were reported stolen from a home on Route 5, Shallotte, Saturday morning. The victim told Bryant that someone knocked out the front window of the home, climbed in and stole the items from ? U? There was about $80 damage to the window. ?An estimated $2,200 worth of household items were reported stolen in a break-in that was discovered Friday evening at a residence in the Sea Mist Campground in Lcland. The owner told Deputy Richard Long II that someone broke out the win dow of a side door to gain entrance. He said the suspects "made them selves at home by drinking soft drinks and beer and eating food." Found missing were two televisions, two vacuum cleaners, a pair of binoc ulars, a telephone, two clocks, a toaster oven, a framed map, a radio scanner, a barometer and a clothes hamper. There was $500 damage done in the break-in. ?Someone stole a riding lawn mow er valued at $1,500 from the yard of a home on Stone Chimney Road, Supply, Sunday evening. It ap peared that the mower had been pushed toward the road and loaded onto a vehicle. ?About $1350 worth of items were reported stolen in a break-in at the Sea Mist Campground in Brick Landing recently. Deputy Randy Robinson's report states that the thief or thieves appeared to have ripped the back door screcn and broke a window to get inside. Found missing were two color televisions, two telephones, a toaster oven two sets of binoculars, a videocasscttc recorder, a radio alarm clock and as sorted pieces of silverware. ?An 1 1 -horsepower Yamaha gener ator, a set of boll cutters and a length of chain were reported stolen from the back porch of a house in the Indian. Creek subdivision near Leland Thursday night. Deputy Brian Sanders estimated the total value of stolen property at SI ,329. ?Deputy Malcolm Long investigat ed a break-in and larceny of a mo bile home in Sunset Harbor Sunday evening. The victim said he returned to the trailer at about 7:30 to find that someone had stolen a video camcorder that had been left near the window. Sanders' report said it appears that the sub jects pried open the front door, en tered and took the dog out the back door. The daughter of the dog's owner said she found it missing at about 9 a.m. Saturday. ?Another SI, 000 dog, this one a white registered chow, was reported stolen from a mobile home at the Sea Pines subdivision outside Southport Thursday night. The own er told Hamilton that he was awak ened by his neighbor banging on the door to say that someone was taking the dog. He gave police a descrip tion of the thief. ?A resident of the Fairhaven mobile home park in Leland reported to Sanders that someone stole a half carat diamond ring from her living room recently. She said she last saw the ring on Dec. 13 and discovered it missing when she went to put it on Sunday morning. It was valued at $700. ?Someone removed a starter from a tractor parked about a quarter mile from U.S. 17 on N.C. 211 recently. An employee of Southport Supply, owners of the tractor, said it had been left for about a week when he discovered the theft Thursday after noon. Deputy Joey Scoggins esti mated the starter's value at about S400. ?An employee at the Carolina Power and Light Brunswick Nuclear Plant reported the theft of about S240 in small bills from a locked drawer in the kitchen of the TAC building Saturday afternoon. She told Hamilton that she noticed some change on the floor and opened the drawer to find the cash missing. ?A stereo and speakers valued at about $140 were reported stolen from a mobile home on Farm Loop Path near Sunset Beach Saturday af I temoon. An employee told McDonald that the pregnant woman kept a cashier busy while the other one tried on clothes. "Suddenly both fe males fled the store, knocking past other customers," the report said. As they reached the street a witness saw the pregnant woman pull a full length leather coat from beneath her clothes. The two drove off in a brown Buick. The coat was priced at S219. ?Someone stole four Christmas pre sents valued at S30 from a mobile home off Acreage Drive near Lcland Sunday night. The victim told Deputy Shclton Caison that he had left the presents at the foot of the bed and came home at about 10:20 to find them missing. ?About S24 worth of Christmas decorations were stolen from the front yard of a mobile home on Port Loop Road, Southport Saturday night The owner told McDonald that she returned home at about 7:30 to find that a four- foot plywood Santa Claus and snowman had been removed from the yard. ?Several pieces of stereo equipment were reported missine after a break in and larceny at a mobile home off Lewis Road, Lcland, early Friday morning. A neighbor of the victim told Sanders she went to check on the home at about 7 a.m. and found that the front door had been pried open. Missing was a stereo turn table, a dual cassette player, two speakers and a stereo equalizer. No value was set on the items. The owner was out of town when the theft was discovered. ?Nothing was found missing in a break-in that caused an estimated S500 damage to a home on Lewis Loop Road, Bolivia, Saturday evening. The owner told Deputy Malcolm Long that someone forced open the back door and also broke out the front door. ?Someone knocked down the gate to the parking lot at Supply Elementary School Thursday night. No damage estimate had been made at the time of Sgt Charles Wilson's report ?A pay telephone was stolen off the wall of a waiting area at The Brunswick Hospital Sunday morn ing. A hospital employee told McDonald that he used the phone at about 9 a.m. and returned about a half-hour later to find that someone had pried it off the wall, cut the wires and carried ihe phone off.
