Lessie, darling, there is no other who can ever take your place. Our hearts still ache for you .day after day, Bv trusting in God we know it was His way. We do not know how much you suf fered, no tongue can ever tell, But we know Jesus doeth all things well. We look at your little toys and think how you used to play, And how much you enjoyed every thing in your own little way. Your loved ones are still sad and lonely, everything is still, It was so hard to give you up, but we know it Was God s will. You were so kind and loving, always had a smile. We do not know how Boon we will meet you, It may be just a little while. No one knows how much we loved you, dearest Lessie, But we know Jesus loved you best. He softly called you, and took you home to rest. We trust and pray some day we will meet you In that beautiful city and in thaj land Where we will never grow old. The funeral - service was held tt Piney Woods Church Friday after noon, the 11th, with a very large at tendance. Claud Bullock, Bertha 8. White and Elisabeth White gave suit able messages. . The choir sang two of his favorite hymns, "Abide With Me" and "It Is Well With My Soul." "The City Pour Square" was sung as a solo by Mrs. R. M. White. -Among the lovely floral tributes was a beauuiul bleeding heart de sign, given by the members of his Sunday School. Interment was in the family ceme tery near the church. Active pallbearers were Dr. I. A. Ward and the five brothers. "We'll think of him as living on as dear In the Land of There as in the Land of Here." A FRIEND. Legal notices IN MEMORIAM As the glow of the beautiful Easter season faded from our sight, the soul of Edward L. Chappell took its flight from earth to Heaven, at his home in Belvidere, April 8th, at 5 o'clock P. M., age 72 years. In the going home of Mr. Chappell, Belvidere community and Perquimans County lost a peaceful, friendly and generous hearted Christian citizen. February 18. he suffered a severe stroke of paralysis and although he uttered few ' words afterwards, his friendly smiles and genial spirit fol lowed to the end. ' He taught school in 96 and '97 and in 1898 he established a mercantile business near his home. In addition to this he operated a saw mill, a grist mill and a cotton gin. Between the years 1926 and 1936 he assisted in carrying the mails, after which he again became a successful merchant "and continued until his ill ness and 'death. In 1901 he married Mary Lane of Chowan County, who preceded him to the Better Land a few yean ago. Surviving are four sons, four daughters) fourteen grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters.
