The Hertford Warriors, Perqirim
ana County entry in the Carolina-
Tidewater baseball league, dropped
their two opening games of the seas
on when they lost a game played at
Hertford last Saturday to Poplar
Branch 9 to 2, then lost on Sunday
to the Shawboro nine by a 8-5 count
,In Saturday's game the Warriors
were held scoreless - until a last inn
ing rally enabled them to score two
runs to avoid a shutout. - Chester
Winslow led the Warrior attack in
the opener, with two hits out of
three tries. '
The Warriors lost Sunday's game
in the last inning when a freak play
enabled Shawboro to come up with
a double play to wipe out a Warrior
rally which showed promises of
knotting the score. :;:..y."7v:'. ' f '
