No News About Big Profits The metropolitan newspapers do not fail to pour it on the farmers; they call attention to the fact that prices received 'by farmers have increased more Ithan twenty-five per cent since June, 1950, and that prices paid by farmers have increased onlyj about twelve per cent. These journals also pour it into la tor and the wages that workers re ceive. They call attention to every in crease that workers receive and loud ly complain that unless these items are curbed, there will be inflation. We fail to find any record, however, of the increase in corporate profits, We do not read doleful pleas to busi ness to cut down on profit in order to keep prices down. We see nothing anywhere about the tax-exemption that industry is taking in connection with the construction of production facilities. The truth of the matter, as anyone can verify who will study the matter, is that information given the people of this country is heavily weighted m favor of business and wealth. Pro fits, subsidies and tax-exemption seem to interest the bright boys who write the analysis of our economic situation. Against 4hem, the 'FBI has 6,200 bounded on the North by th H. C. agents, which makes it " physical impossibility to keep all of them under surveillance.w 1 It is interesting Ibo note that the 'FBI's tabulation fry states shows that 38,780 of he ICommunists are in eleven states, with New York having 22,675; 'California, 4,550; Illinois, 8J105; Penn sylvania, 2,322; New Jersey, 1,571; Ohio, 1,060; Washington, 807; Michi gan, 750; IMmnesota, 701; Massachu setts, 759, and Connecticut, 580. If one will then turn to the census figures, showing that the white for eign-thorn population of the various states, he will discover that in the number of foreign-born, New York leads all the country, with 2,853,530, followed by Pennsylvania, Illinois, California, (Massachuetts, New Jersey, Michigan, Ohio, Connecticut, and Min nesota. The reader will note that this listing includes ten of the eleven states with the largest number of Communist Party members. The other state, Washington, ranking seventh in the numlber .of (Communists,; ranks thir teenth in the number of foreign-born, but being on the coast, probably picks up a few extra Communists. The above figures are not cited to reflect upon the white foreign-bom population of the United IStiates but! to show to the readers of The Weekly (Godfrey lands, on the East by the lands of H. C. Federal Bu reau of Investigation, stated that, ac cording to the FBI's new count of Party members, there were 43,217 to the propaganda of Communism. The only way to change this situation is through the slow process of education, In other words, the thirteen South ern States listed have slightly more than 1200 Communists, according to the IFBI.
