Horse and Pony Club had
a very successful day April
15, starting with a parade
through Hertford a! the
horses and riders to be in ,
the show that afternoon.
The' Perquimans County
Marching Unit added to
the western flavor of the
event as they led the pa
rade in their colorful In
dian outfits.
The : horse and pony
show began at 1 P. M.
Saturday afternoon with
horses and : ponies from
Perquimans County and
surrounding areas in
competition for the tro
phies and ribbons award
ed in the different classes.
Winners in these classes
were as follows: Western
Pleasure, 12 and under,
first, Russ Chappell; sec
ond, Rodney Knight; third,
Alvin Winslow and fourth,
Lisa DeRock.

gers attended the Mid-At-lantic
Regional Meeting of
the Neighborhood Youth
Corps, which was held at
the Chambeilin Hotel at
Ft. Story, Va., from Tues
day through Friday.
The purpose of this meet
ing was to make plans for
the 1)()8 Youth Program.

with activities at Perquim
ans High and. away from
home. Both baseball games,
were- away from home, but
it did not ; seem to make
any difference ;
On Tuesday Perquimans
defeated ' Northampton 5-3
and on' Friday' Central was
defeated 8-3. Three seem
ed to be an unlucky num
ber for- 'our challengers.
Wednesday " and Thursday'
were track days'." A boys
track 'meet Was1 held here
with Central High defeat
ing the' - Indians with a
scoi;e of 51-35. : Thursday
was a special day ' for-the
girls' track meet" at' Per
quimans High; . Bertie
went home with a victory
of 49-31 but our girls
looked good in their second
meet. .- .'
The Student Council is
planning a chicken salad,
supper for May 13 and
tickets are being sold, here
and there, and every
where. The FFA judging

The FFA judging team
carried home the honors
in their land judging con
test last week by winning
the overall award for beef
cattle, dairy cattle and
swine judging.
On April 15 and 16 the
State Beta Club Conven
tion was held in Ashe
ville, N. C. The following
