Carpenter III DURHAM - Miss Marcia Kay, Copeland became the bride of Walter Roy Carpenter III Saturday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock in the Duke University Chapel. The Rev. Howard C. Wilkinson, chaplin to the University, assisted by the Rev. T, T. Markham, performed the double-ring ceremony in a candlelight setting of white gladioli, mums and palms. Wedding music was presented by George Ritchie, chapel organist. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Estes 0. Copeland of Belvidere. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter R. Carpenter Jr. of Charlot tesville, Va. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a full length gown of peau de soie fashioned with an empire waistline, Victorian neckline and long puffy sleeves. The front of the dress was tucked and trimmed with white and pink lace appliques. The chapel length train was trimmed with pink and white lace medallions and was detachable from a pale pink sash and bow. The full length veil was attached to a pink and white flowered headpiece. The gown was designed and made by the bride. She carried a cascade bouquet of white car nations and daisies centered with pink cymbidium orchids. Miss Peggy Copeland of Belvidere, sister of the bride, k ceremony Bunch Participates In Strike Command U. S. Air Force Airman First Class Oscar P. Bunch, son of Mrs. Mollie Bunch of 106 Edenton Road, Hertford, N. C, recently participated in a U.S. Strike Command (USSTRICOM) Joint air and ground training exercise conducted at Ft. Bliss, Tex. The exercise, BOLD SHOT BRIM FIRE 3-70, in volving 1,500 Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine personnel , tested the operational readiness and rapid reaction capability of select USSTRICOM forces in simulated emergency. Airman Bunch is a radar operator at Cannon AFB, N.M. His unit is part of the Tactical Air Command which provides combat units for air support of U.S. ground forces. The airman is a 1969 graduate of Perquimans County High School. Adm. Horatio Nelson earned the epithet of "the Hero of the Nile" for his naval victory over the French fleet in 1798."
