T r St-n Pwr.nlraM Wet!y, Harffori, N.O, Ttandty, Primary " v- - Mrs. Barry Shenton White, Shenton Exchange Vows The Hertford Baptist Church was the scene recently for the wedding of Miss Carolyn Anne White and Barry Reed Shenton. The parents of the couple are Mr . and Mrs. JoeTowe White, Sr. Hertford, N.C. and Mr. and -Mrs. Milton M. Shenton, , Taylors Island, Maryland. - The vows were spoken in a setting of candlelight, baskets of mixed white flowers and palms. The Rev. Norman Harris officiated at the double ring ceremony. Walter Edwards, Jr. was organist and a piano and flute duet, "Colour My World" was rendered by Miss Linda Vaught of Winchester, Va. and Miss Karen Neverdousky of Elizabeth City, N.C. Mrs. Charles White of Suffolk, Va. was mistress of ceremony. The bride, presented in marriage by her father, wore a gown which she designed and had created by Mrs. T. T. Harrell. The formal floor length gown of candlelight peau do soie featured a sweetheart neckline tucked with georgette finished with a mandarin collar. The bishop sleeves ended in deep cuffs with the traditional wedding points and were closed with self covered buttons at the wrist. The cathedral length train was attached to the empire waistline and featured a scalloped hemline with hand appliqued lace flowers and imported irridescent pearls identical to the hemline of the wedding gown. Her head dress was designed similar to an old fashioned bonnet with matching lace appliques and pearls. Lay ers of bridal mousseline do soie flowed from the bonnet to the finger tips. She carried a cascade bouquet of white phalaenopis orchids and stephanotis. Honor attendant for her sister was Miss Betty White. She wore a royal blue polyaater crepe floor, length gown fashioned with details similar to the bridal gown and an old fashioned bonnet to match her dress. She 14,1974 carried an arm arrangement of mixed flowers. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Joe Towe White, Jr., Hertford, N.C, sister-in-law to the bride; Miss Margaret Ann Shenton and Miss Darlene Shenton, Taylors Island, Maryland, sisters of the groom and Mrs. . Xommy Maccubbin, Winchester, va. The bridesmaids' gowns and) bonnets were in emerald green polyester crepe identical to the maid of honor. They also carried arm arrangements like those of the honor attendant. Miss Jennifer White was flower girl and was dressed, identical to the maid of honor and she carried a basket of mixed flowers. Master Tony Meads was the ring bearer. He wore royal blue velvet knickers with candlelight polyester crepe blouse completed with a royal blue bow under a Buster Brown collar. The bride's mother wore a floor length two piece dress of apricot polyester and a white . cymbidium corsage. Mrs. Shenton wore a floor length two piece dress of aqua polyester . and a white ; cymbidium corsage. : . , Mrs. J. E. Rogerson, grandmother of the bride, wore a floor length dress of teal blue polyester, Mrs. Jake L. White, Sr., also grandmother of the ; bride, wore a floor length dress of cranberry polyester. Mrs. Mary Brown, grandmother of the groom, wore a floor length dress of camel tan. All grandmothers wore red rose corsages, v Mr. Shenton served as best man for his son. Ushers were: Joe Towe White, Jr., Hertford, N.C; Thomas Hollowell, Huntsville, Alabama; Thomas Maccubbin, Winchester. Va.: and Branch Watkins, Jamacia, N.Y. Following the wedding, the bride's parents entertained at a reception in the Lower Auditorium at the church. A dinner for the out-of-town guests was given at the home of the bride's parents by Mr. and Mrs. John Josten, Kalamazoo, Michigan; and Mr. and Mrs. J. t. Kogerson of Tyner, N.C. After a wedding trip to Killington, Vermont the couple will make their home in Jennette, Penn. The bride is a graduate of Perquimans County High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education for the mentally retarded from East Carolina University. She is an Alpha Omicron Pi. Mr. Shenton is a graduate of Cambridge High School and received his Bachelor of Science Aerospace Engineering Degree from the University of Virginia. Mrs. C. G. Vaught and Linda Vaught gave Miss White a luncheon at , their home in Winchester, Va. A dinner party was given at the Colonial Inn In Winchester, Va.
