'. Seneca said: "We are members of one great body, planted by nature in a mutual love, and fitted for a social life, We must consider that we were born for the good of the whole." . It is at the point of human relationships that we seem to be the greatest failures: How fortunate we are as Christians to have the example and the teachings of Jesus Christ concerning this matter. Jesus had much to say about human relationships. The apostle Paul was greatly influenced by the teachings of Jesus on this subject. In our scripture passage for this lesson he uses three words which help to sum up his admonition. Zion For Your Information A Dear Friends, No one is in a better position than you to decide how your estate should be appor tioned among your prospective heirs and charities: However, unless you have a prop er 'will' or 'trust fund', this distribution wilr-be made by the courts of law. One should make legal preparations well in advance for the distribution of one's estate. NUMBERS ARE TRICKY WATCH OUT WHEN YOU DIAL "335-" and "338-" may have the same four digits following them. For over 10 years we've kep he "338" prefix in Elizabeth City for 3000's, and v 8000's. All other numbers began with "335". For instance, we used to never have a .. "338-1234" or a "335-3456", But now these numbers are available for use. Recent growth in this exchange has madeit necessary. So, if ; ... .; calling an Elizabeth City number, be sure of ; your number. Dial carefully. It may save your ears from naughty words when the wrong fellow is waked up in the middle of the night. 'J. 1 r - . , : The Norfolk & Carolina love these days. Many songs are being written and sung . about love. It would be easy to mistake what the Bible means when it speaks of love. The writer calls for genuine love. Love that is less than genuine is hypocritical.-'' Love is to be real in the life of God's people. Evil should bring forth the opposite of love. Evil seeks to destroy all that is of God and God's wrath is to be poured out on all evil. To be like Christ is to hate that which is evil. God should be cherished and held on to. There ought to be a warm and glowing love for brothers) in Christ. Christians are to be eager to show respect for each other. Honor is to be shown. There is no place for laziness in the life of a child of God. He should work hard and be aglow with the Spirit. The Christians heart should be full of devotion for Him who loves and lives for him. Rejoining in hope, patient in tribulation, constant in REVIVAL from 1958 until 1961 when he entered military service as a chaplain. Stanley Nixon, pastor of the church. on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 1:30 p.m. Text will be the partial and the complete (I Cor; 13:9-10). Rev. J.H. Londor, pastor of First Baptist Church will conduct revival at Moses Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in Elizabeth City, N.C. August 19-22. Services will begin nightly at 7:45 p.m. Rev. N.H. Felton invites the public to these revival services. Respectfully, SWINDELL FUNERAL IHCME - HERTFORD HC Lesson prayer should be the marks of one who would become more like Christ. Humility, Romans 12: 14-13 The reaction of the Christian to mistreatment is the opposite of that of the world. Instead of hoping a curse will fall upon the one who wrongs him, he is to pray that God's best will 1 come to the wrongdoer'. ' The Christian should be 'concerned about what happens to others. He should ""feel with" them, their joys and their sorrows. He should ' live in harmony with others. Humility must mark the Christian. Haughtiness is t repulsive to everyone. Jesus was humble though the world and all in it was His. His willingness to humble Himself and be obedient brought to Him a position , and a name which was above every name. A proper attitude toward one's own worth will enable one to exercise a correct attitude toward the worth of others. ' Helpfulness, Romans 12: 19-21 The Christian who follows these instructions of the apostle will be a good example to others. The world needs to see these things put into practice. How should one react when he has been wronged? How should one treat his enemy? Can evil really be overcome with good? Have you tried this way lately? You know, it just might open up a whole new world of interest, information, and excitement. Why not put forth a greater effort to become more Christlike in your relationships this week. BIBLE QUESTION OF THE WEEK "Was most of the New Testament written by the Apostle Paul?" ANSWER Paul wrote the largest number of books in the New Testament, but Luke contributed more than one fourth of the New Testament. He wrote The Gospel of Luke and The Acts of the Apostles.
