Gower Jr. Gower-Evans Exchange Vows The .wedding of Miss Martha Jane Evans and Emerson Franklin Gower Jr. was solemnized August 3rd in Forest Hills Baptist Church in Raleigh, N.C. The Rev. John Lawrence performed the double ring ceremony in a, candlelight setting of palms, and yellow and white mums. The bride is the daughter of . Mr. and Mrs. J. Lloyd Evans of Rt. 1, Hertford. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson F. Gower of Raleigh, N.C. Wedding music was presented by Mrs. Charles Stout, organist; soloist Bill Vinson and the bride. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white organza embellished , with applique of Venice lace.' Miss Linda Evans, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a long full gown of yellow organza with deep ruffle. She wore a picture hat of antique cream with matching ribbon. She carried a nosegay of yellow and ' white mums. Bridesmaids, dressed identical to the maid of honor in rainbow colors, included Miss Cathy Evans, sister of the bride; Miss Deborah Marshall and Miss Jean Noblin of Durham, N.C; Miss Cathy Gibson of Greensboro, N.C; Miss Carol Christian and Miss Elaine Bartholomew of Raleigh, N.C. The bride's mother wore a light blue gown of rayon crepe trimmed with sequins and a corsage of yellow roses. The groom's mother wore a gown of pink knit and a corsage of pink roses. A reception given by the bride's parents was held immediately following the ceremony in the church fellowship hall. For a wedding trip to . Charleston and Hilton Head, S.C., the bride changed into a yellow knit dress and wore the corsage lifted from her wedding bouquet. The bride is a graduate of Perquimans High School and North Carolina State University at Raleigh and is presently teaching in the Raleigh City Schools. The groom is a graduate of Campbell College and is employed as a Commercial Services Specialist with Carolina Power and Light Company. The couple will reside in Cary, N.C. Pre-Nupital Parties A miscellaneous shower was given July 12th by Jean Noblin, Deborah Marshall, Susie . Bucho and Aileen Heritage at Brookhill Town Houses in Raleigh. A miscellaneous shower was given July 18th by Mrs. Clyde Ussery, Linda and Cathy Evans at Ussery residence in Raleigh. - The couple was entertaind July 20th at a family reunion given by, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Nowell in Aulander, N.C. A bridesmaids' luncheon was given by Mrs. A.G. Bullard and Mrs. Louis Christian of Raleigh. The rehearsal party was given by the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emerson F. Gower of Raleigh. 14, 1975 Couple Saturday At Hertford Baptist Miss Freda Christine Godwin and Mr. Wallace Edgar Nelson were united in marriage last Saturday at 8 p.m. , in Hertford Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl S. Godwin of Rt. 2, Hertford. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley E. Nelson of Hertford. Rev. Norman Harris performed the double ring ceremony in a candlelight setting. The altar was centered with a fifteen , branch candleabra arrange ment of white gladioli,' chrysanthemums, pom pons . and , carnations and two nine-inch branch matching candlelabras were used with palms. The center arrangement was encircled with candles in the Alpha and Omega symbols. ' Wedding music was performed by Mrs. Larry Smith, organist of Edenton, N.C; Mr. Frank Cox, trumrjeter of Scotland Neck. N.C. and Mr. Hugh Clark, guitarist of - Buies Creek, N.C. with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Clark as vocalists. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white sata peau featuring a . gibson girl neckline and fitted sleeves of eluny lace matching the lace trimmed bib on the bodice. The princess styled gown flowed into a cathedral length attached train which was trimmed with a wide ruffle of wide cluny lace. The sleeves and bodice were entwined in seed pearls. The camelot headpiece was covered with rows of cluny lace sprinkled with pearls from which fell the fingertip veil of bridal illusion. Her only ornament was a gold locket, worn by the groom's grandmother in her wedding. The ' bride carried a cascade bouquet of white sweetheart roses, pixie carnations and baby's breath centered with a white hybrid orchid corsage and white lace ribbon streamers. Honor attendant was Mrs. Jimmy Godwin, sister-in-law of the bride. She wore a light coral chiffon over taffeta gown with circular collar and empire waistline trimmed with white lace entwined with matching ribbon. She carried a nosegay of yellow and coral pom pons with white daisies and lace streamer. Bridesmaids dressed identical to the honor attendant were Miss Kathy Nelson, sister of the groom; Miss Joan Cahoon, Miss Linda Grieve and Miss Joan Miller, all of Hertford; and LLOYD R. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. For a wedding trip to points of interest in Florida and cruise to Nassau, the bride changed to a white polyester suit trimmed in ; blue and gold, accented with ' a blue and gold scarf and the yellow throat orchid lifted from her bridal bouquet. The couple will make their home in Chapel Hill where both are enrolled as students at University of North Carolina. A miscellaneous shower was given at the Hertford Baptist Church Fellowship hall by friends and relatives of the groom. The bride was honored at a dinner party at Soundview Restaurant.
