Wilson Wilson - Rogers Vows Spoken Miss Harriet Melanie Rogers of Hendersonville, N.C., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rogers of Hendersonville, and Thomas Calvin Wilson of Austelle, Ga., son of Mrs. Thomas C. Wilson and the late Mr. Wilson of Hertford, spoke their wedding vows in a ceremony at the Wing Memorial Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville, on Saturday, April 10, at four o'clock in the afternoon. The Rev. Joseph Greer, former pastor of the bride, of Triangle Presbyterian Church in Durham, was the Officiating minister. A program of wedding music was presented by William Smyth, organist. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a eown of candlelight muslin with a sweetheart neckline and Calla Lily sleeves. The front and back of the gown had inserts of lace. A three-tiered veil, attached to a Juliet cap, descended into a chapel train. She carried a Cascade bouquet of ivory roses and baby's breath. Mrs. James Drake of Atlanta, Ga, and Miss Leshea Rogers of Hendersonville, sisters of the bride, were matron and maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Misses Susan and Betsy Wilson of Hertford, sisters of the bridegroom, and Miss Brenda Freeman of Hendersonville. Miss Leigh Drake, niece of the bride, was flower girl. The attendents wore colonial dresses in muslin trimmed in ivory lace and carried bouquets of Yellow Fugi Mums with streamers of matching ribbon. The groom had as his best man, Edward Stolle of Virginia Beach. Ushers were Joel Wilson of Hertford, brother of the groom, Bundy Rogers of Hendersonville, brother of the bride, Mike Binder of Marion, Harold Wilson of Jamestown, N.C. and Brad Bradshaw of Atlanta. Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlor. Both bride and groom are graduates of Western Carolina University. Mr. Wilson is employed by Cobb County School System in Georgia, and Mrs. Wilson was employed in the Department of Social Services in Henderson County before the wedding. After a wedding trip to Williamsburg, the couple will make their home at 405 Weber Circle, Austelle, Ga. Mrs. Thomas C. Wilson entertained the wedding party and out-of-town guests with an after rehearsal dinner on Friday evening at eight o'clock at the Chariot. f If I By FREDA NELSON. A prettier sight you've never seen then the Easter Parade presented Saturday night after a delightful sup- v per of the Snug Harbor Civic " League. Young people tak-. ing part in the presentation were Lisa Schultheiss, Inge Marie Thompson, ; Bell Sullivan, Susie Stuller, and Chris Sears. ' Also, Tim Perry, Mike Hoggard, Mike Hagan, Tim Kane, Billy Sears, and Alex Thompson. - Compositions on "Why We Dress Up for Easter"; were . submitted by Mike Hoggard ' and Tim Perry. Mrs. Harold Thompson director, read the essays and awarded both authors with a cash reward. The play was climaxed with ' the entire group singing Easter Bells" to the tune of "Christimas Bells" with words written by the group. The Easter Sunrise Ser vice, was well attended and welcomed by Mrs. M.L. Watklns, president of the Civic League. Rev. Stanley Nixon, pastor of Bethel Bap tist Church, presented an in spirational Easter message. Speical singing was presented by the Youth Group, and the Ladies Triangle Club. M.E. Nelson gave the benediction. Heartfelt sympathy is ex tended to Mrs. George Sullivan and children in the loss of their loved one, hus band and father, who passed away Sunday morning. Deepest sympathy is also extended to Mrs. Wade Jor dan whose mother, Mrs. An me Copeland Sutton, passed away last week. 'Mr, and Mrs. B.B. Holleman of Raleigh, N.C. spent the weekend with Mr. Holleman's sister, Mrs., Johnnie Phillips. Welcome to Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Dail, formerly of Virginia Beach,' Va., who are Snug Harbor's newest permanent residents. Mr. Dail Is the brother of Mrs. William (Nelda) Perry. Mr. and Mrs. G.F. Miles have returned home after spending the winter in Florida. Martha White, Frances .White, and Edmond White, spent the Easter holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. White Jr. V; . Ellen Long, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Long, was home for the Holidays. Mrs. M.L. Watkins. The' time is 7:30 p.m. and a warm welcome is extended to come. Ensley of Bradenton, .Fla. ' ; .:'- v-; " ";;" v Mr, and Mrs. Emmett Long attended the National School Board Association Meeting in San Francisco, California which was held from April 8 to 13. They flew United Airlines. Sight seeing trips to' points of in terest were scheduled for ' those wishing to participate. The Longs enjoyed several of these tours. The Mattie Macon Sunday School Of Bethel Baptist Church held their quarterly class meeting recently at the home of Mrs. Madge Brabble. Everyone brought their favorite recipe and a delicious supper Was shared and enjoyed by all. Mrs. Janie Proctor gave the devotional. Members pre sent were, Thelma Ap pleton, Dot Gray, Joyce Hobbs, Dolna Mae Proctor, Janie Proctor, ' Madelyn , Long, Inei Corprew, Helen Sawyer, Nelda Perry, Pat Harris, Alice Spivey, Lucille White, and the Hostess, Madge Brabble. - i Visiting with Mrs. Nellie Stallings over the weekend were her' mother, Mrs. Virginia Dail, and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Dail of Norfolk, .Va.- -J Little.. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Markham, and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Corprew; also Mrs. Lillie Harris visited with the Senior Cor- prews on Easter Sunday.-: Mr. and Mrs., Norman Covert and family spent the weekend at their home in Snug Harbor. Mrs. Coveriis studying pharmacy at U.N.C. Chapel Hill, N.C, The Young People of Bethel Baptist Church have planned . an outing for Friday night. Meeting at the church at 6 p.m. they will go from there to McDonald's for supper and then to the Circus which is showing at the Armory in Elizabeth City. All who can ' attend are urged to be present on time and to join in this even ing of entertainment .and fellowship. - God is attentive to silent prayers, anywhere, anytime. ' EASTER TREATS Members of the Ml. Sinai, Mission Friends igroup visited the residents at Morgan's Rest Home on Saturday to take Easter packages of fruits. Smith of Winf all (pictured above) celebrated his 85th bithday on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood White of Rt. 2, Hertford. Present for the occasion were his son, Rev. and Mrs. Eugene Smith and family of Harmony, N.C. and his daughter Mrs. Mozelle Peabody and family of Kernersville, N.C. Also nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren helped in the celebration. Several other friends and relatives dropped by during the afternoon. Dinner and birthday refreshments were provided for the gala affair. Birthday wishes go this week to Mrs. Charles E. White Sr. who celebrated her birthday anniversary Monday. Many happy returns!
