Mrs. Margaret Saun ders, District Vice- Presi dent, introduced the pro gram guests, Ted and Jack Miles, a husband-wife team who presented a pro gram in chancel drama, using the theme "Go and Tell". Over 300 people attended the meeting. Miss Lillian Marie Ed wards and James Robert Ball were united in mar riage Oct. 28 at 2:30 p.m. in New Hope United Metho dist Church. The Rev. Roy Burgess heard the wedding vows exchanged. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph G. Edwards Jr. of Rt. 3, Hertford. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Roy Ball of 200 E. Broad St., Elizabeth City. Miss Kathy Godfrey of New Hope was honor atten dant for the bride. Bridesmaids were Teresa Perry of Gates and Miss Mary Peers of Hertford. James Ball served as best man for his son. Ushers, were Gary Ed wards, brother of the bride, and Billy Ball of Elizabeth City, brother of the bridegroom. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church social hall. The bridegroom is employed at Roanoke Island Boat Works in Wanchese. The couple will make their home in Kill Devil Hills. __ WINE AND CHEESE PARTY - The Jaycettes of Per quimans County and friends held a "get together" at the Angler's Cove Restaurant in Bethel November 15. Over 50 local ladies attended. The evening gave the women a chance to distinguish the differences in many of the more popular wines and cheeses of the area. The City Beverage Company and Angler's Cove sponsored the event. Door prizes were given and Mrs. Lillian Elliott won $100 worth of groceries in their raffle, (staff photo) People in the news John Biggers attended the Board of Directors meeting of the American Cancer Society October 21-22, m Raleigh. Bulbs in memory of or in honor of someone. The bulbs will be placed on a tree on the courthouse lawn in Hert ford. The tree will be lighted in a special ceremony Saturday, December 2 at 4:30 p.m. A musical program will be given by Miss Carolina Wright and a group of young people. A scroll will be printed with the names of all those for whom a bulb is lighted and will be placed in a downtown area. Booklets will also be printed.
