Jordan) ? ~ ?" - By JIM UNDERWOOD The Devils moved into the midget basketball lead Saturday morning with an impressive 25-21 win over the Bucks. The win puts the Devils a game ahead of 'the Falcons. The Bucks put up a fight and were even leading at half, 14-11, but hot second half shooting by Richard Thach and Eric Boyce, plus tight defense, provid ed the winning points for the Devils. Thach led all scores with 14 points. Teton Reid, leading scorer last year, was held to only 10 points. Virgil Whitehurst con tributed 7 for the Bucks. In the other games, the Nuggets downed the Royals, 37-16. The game was close at the end*of the first charter, but then hot shooting by Washignton Lyons and David Saunders helped the Nuggets pull away. Lyons provided alot of punch for the Nuggets with 15 points. Saunaers chip ped in 13 points and alot of rebounds. Doug White led the Royals with 11 points. In action this week, the Devils and Falcons will battle for first place and the Nuggets will try to keep up the winning ways aganist the Bucks. Game time is 10 a.m. at the High School. If your child wishes to enroll call the Recreation Department, 426-5695. There is a small fee for this class. Basketball is going real well. Results of the midget and adult leagues are elsewhere in the paper. Girls basketball will be starting soon. Two more coaches are needed. If you are interested please call the Recreation Department. There will be an important meeting, Sunday j Feb. 4, 3 p.m. at the Per quimans County Courthouse. The topic of discussion will be the reorganization of the Perquimans Countv Arts Council.
