Babe Ruth League Plans Four Teams The Albemarle Babe Ruth League met in Hertford last Tuesday night, with Babe Ruth District Commissioner Billy Wooten presiding. On the local scene, the league is planning to have four teams, which will have a 15 player limit. Coaches are Allen Winslow, Milton Coston, and Steve Perry with the Brinn-Jackson team; Johnnie Winslow and Ronald Boyce with the Towe-Don Juan team; and Gill Underwood with the Hollowell-Winfall team. Coaches are still being sought for the fourth team. Edenton is planning to field three teams in the 13-15 division, and that would provide a set of uniforms for the extra team in Perquimans County. The schedule will see the teams play on Tuesday and Thursday nights in Hertford against the other teams in this county. The teams will play Edenton twice, with all the local teams going over to Edenton on a Saturday in May, and the Edenton teams returning the visit in June. All-Star teams will still be a joint venture between Eden ton/Chowan and Hert ford/Perquimans. The 13-15 Area G Tournament will be held in Edenton on July 10-13. In the 16-18 division, teams from Manteo, Currituck, Plymouth, Edenton and Hertford will compete. There are some ques tions on how many teams Hertford will field. They have fielded two teams the past two seasons, but participation has fallen off. Plus the fact that nobody seems to want to coach these teams. A decision on these teams will be made soon, with availability of coaches and ball players being ; the deciding factors. Currituck reported that i it will field 5 teams in the 13-15 league, and Dare County will have 4 J teams in this bracket. Currituck will host the ' District No. 28 Tourna ment which will be 2 of 3 with Dare County on July 5-7. Edenton will host the 16-18 year olds District No. 28 Tournament on these same dates.
