Area obituaries . PERRY Eugene Spruill Perry. ??, of TIN Crawler Court, San Diego, ? California, died suddenly Tuesday evening in his home. A native of Perquimans County, he was the soo of the late Jesae P. Perry, Sr. and Mrs. Buena Vista Spruill Perry and the husband of Mrs. Mary Isabel Busser Perry. He was retired from the Navy having served for 20 years and was also retired from General Dynamics of San Diego. He was a Catholic. Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters. Miss Mary Perry and Miss Joan Perry, both of the home, and Mrs. Terry Oliver of Bellingham, Wash.; a son, James Eugene Perry of Los Angeles, Cal.; a sister. Mrs. Nat White of Miller Place, N.Y.; two brothers, Jesse Parker Perry of Hertford and William Perry of Virginia Beach, Va.; and two grandchildren. A funeral Mass was held Friday at 7:30 p.m. in San Diego, with burial in a San Diego cemetery. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Knights of Columbus in care of Mr. Perry's home, 7199 Crawley Court, San Diego, Cal., 92119. Information was provided by Swindell Funeral Home. BRABBLE Mrs. Madge Long Brabble, 60, of Route 1, Hertford, died Wednesday \ afternoon in Chowan Hospital. A native of Perquimans County she was the daughter of the late Sidney Lee and Mrs. SalUe Williams Long and the wife of Wilms V. Brabble. She was the retired manager of the Perquimans County High School lunchroom and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Besides her husband, she is sur vived by a daughter, Mrs. Varina B. Hollowell of Boute 1, Hertford; a son, Lee Brabble of Boute 1, Hertford, Ambrose Long of Boute 2, Eden too; S brothers, Seth Long of Boute 2, Hertford; E.W. "Dick" Long and Howard Long, both of Hertford; Ambrose Long of Boute 2, Edenton and Freeman Long of Boute 1, Hertford; and one grandchild. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Swindell Funeral Home, Hertford, by the Bev. Charles Middleton and Bev. Gordon Shaw. Burial followed in Cedarwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Claude Long, Jr.. Irving Long, Jr., Sidney Long, Milton Long, J. Cyril Winslow, and Knapp Brabble. \ WINSLOW Mrs. Mary Lizzie Chappell Win slow, 85, of Route 1, Belivdere, died Monday Morning at her home. A native of Perquimans County, she was the daughter of the late Elihu J. and Missouri Copeland Chappell and the widow of Jesse Thomas Winslow. She was a member of the Sandy Cross Baptist Church. grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral aervices were held Sunday at 1:00p.m. in the Chapel of Swindell Funeral Home by the Rev. Charlea Middleton. Burial followed in the Bethel Cemetery. Pallbearer* were: Mike Rucker, Danny Harrell, Marq Gray, R. S. Chappell, E. J. Proctor, and Willi* Proctor. \ BOYCI David Ernest Boyce, 63, of Route 3, died auddenly Sunday at hi* home. A native of Chowan County, he was the son of the late Vandy and Rosa Byrum Boyce, and the husband of lira. Eunice Chappell Boyce and was a Protestant He was retired from the U. S. Navy as a Chief Machinist Mate after 22 years of service; and from the Norfolk Navy yard after 15 years of service, and was employed by the Holiday Inn in Elizabeth City. Besides his wife, surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Connie B. Copeland of Rt. 1, Edenton; three sons, David E. Boyce, Jr., of Folkston, Ga., Ricky C. Boyce of Edenton, and Reggie T. Boyce of Cary, N.C. Five sisters, Mrs. Roxie Daniels of Colerain, Mrs. Marie Matthews o Winfall, Mrs. Edna Byrum of Tyner, and Mrs. Naomi Bunch of Rt. 1, Edenton; two brothers, Wiliford Boyce of Roanoke Rapids and Robert Boyce of Belleville, 111.; and six grandchildren Full military rites were accorded at the graveside Is Cedarwood Cemetery, Tuesday at 2 p.m. by the U. S. Naval Air Station in Norfolk. Swindell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Surving are five daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Jessie Mae) Williams and Miss Clarine Winslow of Route 1, Belvidere; Mrs. Edmond (Delsie) White of Rt 1. Hobbsville; Mrs. Paul (Millie) Eder of Homestead, Fla., and Mrs. Doras (Blannie) Copeland of Rt. 1, Tyner. One sister Mrs. Lucy . Ward of Rt. 1, Tyner; 13 grand children and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Swindell Funeral Home, Hertford; with Rev. Bobby Hewitt officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery. MURPHY Mrs. Linda Lee Thurmond Mur phy, 75, of Route 1, Hertford, died Friday afternoon after a lengthy illness. A native of Jackson, Miss., she was the wife of Edward Leroy Murphy and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Besides her husband, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Martha Ann McGohon and Mrs. Lorraine Lamb, both of Rt. 1, Hertford; a sister, Mrs. Catherine Vanetten of Jackson, Miss.; seven iPerquimans Superior Court news " A Pasquotank County funeral home manager, charged with 18 counts of embezzlement, pleaded no J contest to "five counts of the '? misdemeanor of misappropriation of partnership funds in Perquimans , County Superior Court held in Hert ford May 10. Superior Court Judge Henry L. Stevens III ordered Dennis J. | Stallings, 28, of Elizabeth City to pay ' >10,000 in restitution to the owners of Lowe and Stallings Funeral Home in Hertford, according to Assistant District Attorney Michael Johnson. Stallings was also given a 10 year suspended prison sentence and placed on probation for five years. Stallings was charged with em bezzling over $15,000 in burial fees while managing the Hertford funeral home. Stallings was indicted in Perquimans County September 27 following a three month investigation by the Hertford Police Department and the State Bureau of In vestigation. The owners of the funeral home, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Wood Lowe had reported the loss of funds to the Hertford police. In other Superior Court decisions : ?Wallace Hinton, 55, of Route 1, Hobbsville, pleaded guilty to incest or a sexual offense by a substitute parent and received a 4V4 year sentence with the North Carolina Department of Corrections. Work release was recommended. ?Ervin Isaac Bryant received a 3 year prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to felonious breaking and entering. The sentence is to run concurrently with a sentence Bryant is now serving. ?Charlie Fleetwood Wilson was ordered to pay restitution to Albemarle Tire Service and was sentenced to 3 years with the N.C. Department of Corrections. Wilson pleaded guilty to felonious breaking and entering and larceny. ?Bruce Elroy Twine pleaded guilty to assault on a female and received a 90 day sentence, suspended for 2 years. ?Kathryn Lamb Cochriel pleaded no contest to assault and prayer for judgment was continued upon payment of cost of court. ?William Hardy received a 6 months sentence suspended for two years with supervised probation after pleading guilty to assault on a female. Hardy was ordered to pay a $100 fine and cost of court. ?Sammy Cohen pleaded guilty to trespassing and failure to appear in court and was given a suspended 6 months sentence and ordered to pay a $100 fine and cost of court. ?Barbara A. Felton and Charles Dennis Morgan pleaded guilty to felonious breaking and entering a motor vehicle and both were sen Skinner attends fire meeting Charles Skinner, Jr., Perquimans County Fire Marshal, attended a meeting last week of the North Carolina Association of County Fire Marshals in Farmville. Information pertaining to new procedures in inspecting foster child care homes were explained. Also, information on recent N. C. Legislative bills affecting firefighters and fire department operations were discussed. Skinner stated that volunteer firefighters are now being required to meet more standards, certification of training, and procedures dealing with pesticide fire hazards than ever before. Charges of unauthorized use of a conveyance were dismissed. In traffic cases: ?Robert Lee Bass pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and received a six month sentence suspended for two years. Bass was ordered to surrender his driver's license and to complete the traffic safety school. ?Donald Holman pleaded guilty to reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving 71 mph in a 55 mph zone and speeding to elude arrest. He received a six month sentence suspended for two years and was fined $250 plus cost of court. Holman was also ordered to attend the Alcohol and Drug education school. ?Ricky Dail received a six month sentence suspended for two years after pleading guilty to driving under the influence. Dail was also ordered to surrender his drivers license and was told to complete the Alcohol and Drug Education school within 90 days. ?Clarence Edward Brown pleaded guilty to driving 85 mph in a 55 mph zone, driving under the influence, attempting to elude arrest and driving while his license was revoked. He received a one year sentence, suspended for three yearS and was fined $500 and cost of court. He was ordered not to operate a vehicle in the state until properly licensed and to successfully complete the Alcohol and Drug school. ?Carolyn Raines pleaded guilty to driving 67 mph in a 55 mph zone and driving while license was revoked. She was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for (wo years and ordered to surrender her license and pay a $500 fine and cost of court. ?Willie Garcia Felton pleaded guilty to simple assault, resisting arrest and assault on a female. He received a 6 month sentence, suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to pay a $100 fine and cost of court plus $47 in restitution. The Albemarle Hopeline is a recently established "hotline" for victims of spouse abuse and rape serving Pasquotank, Perquimans, Camden, Chowan and Currituck counties.
