Christmas Ramble date set for December 8 [ "The IMS Christmas Ramble" sponsored by the Perquimans County Extension Homemakers and Agricultural Extenaon Service will take place Thraadajr, December I, beginning at 10 a.m. This year the activities will include a foods demonstration, luncheon, holiday decorations and homes tour. Rotary District 771 to receive awards RoUry District 771, composed ^ of 48 -Rotary Clubs in Nor theastern North CaroUna, will receive three awards from The Rotary Foundation because of its outstanding contributions to the ' Foundation during the 1962-83 year. District Governor Barrie Davis of Zebulon said that Rotarians in District 771 voluntarily con tributed more than $61,000 during the year. Rotarians in Hertford are among those cited for their contributions to the Foundation's r work. The Rotary Foundation works for peace and understanding among the peoples of the earth. It conducts its work through educational scholarships. Group Study Exchange teams, grants and an unusual S-H (Health, Hunger and Humanity) program. Two of the awards will be scholarships to be competitively awarded to applicants nominated by District 771 clubs. The thrid will be a six-person Group Study Exchange with a foreign country. Most recent recipients of Rotary Foundtion scholarships, worth from 910,000 to 119,000 each, are Bonnie Gale Banks of Durham and Kelanie Jane Hall of Chapel Hill. A Group Study Exchange team from District 771 is training for a five-week visit in Finland next spring. A major project of the 3-H Program is Immunization of all children on the earth against polio in an effort to eradicate the disease by 2005, Rotary's 100th anniversary. The planning committee patterned the day similar to "Country Christmas" which is a sell out an nually in Historic Halifx. Tickets for the holiday luncheon at Uie home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Towe White St. on the Harvey Point Road are on sale for (3. SO by Extension Homemaker members. The menu includes country ham and turkey combination with dressing and gravy. Also, a congealed salad, candied yams, string beans, tea or coffee and rolls and butter. A dessert of homemade pie is also included. Tickets are available for the following shifts: 11:45 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. Participants are encouraged to visit the 17th Century decorated Newbold-White House and Hertford shops during alternate luncheon shifts. Plan to enjoy an educational, fun day beginning at the Perquimans County Office building for "Cheesy Holiday Treats" at 10 a.m. "Holiday Decorations for the Home" will be held at the Albemarle Commission (AEPDC) Building at 2:30. Arrangements will be given as door prizes. The homes tour will be held from 7 10 p.m. Included will be the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henry Ward, Harvey Point Road and Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Hours extended The Perquimans County Public Library is extending their hours on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to9p.m. Take note: December is fine free month. After this month, patrons with books four months or more overdue will be added to a delinquent list to be published in January 1984, and borrowing privileges will be rescinded until fines are paid or until book(s) are returned or paid for.
