In celebration on March's being National Youth Art Month, Art work by students from each of Perquimans County's school* was selected to be shared with the community. Billboard space is being donated by Smith Advertising of Petersburg, Vs., and the actual painting of the sign, Including the representation of the art work, was done by the Perquimans by the Perquimans High Art Club. The billboard is located on Highway 17 north of Hertford, one half mile beyond the junction of Highway ST and 17. Roy Brothers, a second grader, at Hertford Grammar School is the "little artist" who painted the spider and his web. Roy likes art and sometimes spiders. Leslie Winalow, painter of "A Chinese House" is a fourth grader at Central Grammar School. He wants to be an artist when he grows up. Larry Butts is a seventh grader at Union School. His blue and green design exemplifies rhythms in repeated lines and shapes. perquimans High student Bruce White demonstrates his talents in a portrait. Bruce is a ninth grader. He finds art to be an enjoyable, rewarding experience. These students invite you to look for their pictures on the billboard as you ride on Highway 17 north.
