Hertford teams defeat Edenton in soccer

team traveled to Edenton Thurs
day, October 24 and beat the
Strikers 1-0. Steve Flippen
scored the only goal. Later that
same night, Orange Crush from
Hertford beat Edenton Thunder
in a close game of 3-2. Scott
Chappell scored one goal with
Rich Bizzell scoring the other
two goals for Orange Crush.
On Saturday the Hertford
teams again won against Eden
ton. The Hertford Devils beat the
Edenton Netters 3-0. Matt
Winslow scored two goals and
Charlie Simpson scored one to
shut out the Netters.
In the second game Hertford
Royals played a tough game with
a shortage of players but came
through with a 1-0 victory over
Edenton Lightning. Brian
Winslow scored the winning goal
on a direct kick.
Tournament games for the
Youth League begin Saturday,
wovemDer 9 at 10 a.m. at the soc
cer field behind the Central El
ementary School in Winfall. ?
Spectators are encouraged to
come watch. Young or old, soc
cer is for everyone!
Game scheduled: Sat., Nov. 2: '
10 a.m. Express v. Devils and 11
a.m. Royals v. Thunder. Thurd
day, Nov. 7: 6 p.m. Express v.
Kickers and 7 p.m. Devils v.
Strikers.
The league is open to any resi
dent of Perquimans County who
is 16 years of age or older.
The volleyball games will be
played on Tuesday and Thursday
evenings beginning November
12th. All of the games will be
played at the Winfall Union
School gyiri.
Registration will end Thurs
day, November 7th at 5:00 p.m.
Each team is required to pay a
$45.00 registration fee. Each
manager is responsible for col
lecting the money and truning it
in to the Recreation Department
no later than Monday, November
11th.
There will be a meeting for all
team managers (or a team rep
resentative on Monday, Novem
ber Uth at 7:00 p.m.

Joe Towe White, Jr. was
named Grand Champion in
the Western Division of the
N.fc. State Fair Youth Day
Horse Show. White also
placed in the Quarter Horse
Show on Friday. He is a mem
ber of the Indian Riders 4-H
Horse Club and the Hertford
Saddle Club. Chad has owned
his quarter horse, Best Lucky
Diamond for about three
years and has been riding for
about six years.
