Fall softball swings into action
Five men s teams didn’t get
enough softball during the sum
| mer season, so the Perquimans
County Recreation Department is
, ij sponsoring fall ball.

my's Barbecue, the Pirates.
Owens’ Carpet and Ned's BP will
hit and field for five weeks before
ending the cooler season with a
tournament.
The fall season got underway
on Sept 9 when Shadetree edged
by Jimmy’s, 5-4. Kent White was
2-for-3 for the winners. Ricky
Stallings was 2-for-3 with a triple
and wade Stanton, 2-for-3, for
Jimmy’s.
The Pirates took Owens’ 22
17 in a slugfeat. Brian Whitfield
led the Pirates offensively, going
4-for-5 at the plate. Arthur Davis
was 3-for-4 and Willie Shannon
house, 2-for-4. Martin Owens led
the losers with a perfect night at
bat, going 4-for-4 with a double
and a triple. Glenn Lamb was 3
for-4 ana Richard Graham. 2-for
4 with two doubles,
Ned’s got a forfeit from the
Bandits, who have dropped out
of the league.
On Sept. 14, Jimmy's
trounced on the Pirates. 14-4. “
Staley Colson and Jeny Ward
both batted 1000 for Jimmy's.

Shadetree out-hit Ned's 10-4
to take a 13-3 win. Wayne Cor

The Bandits forfeited for
Owens' Carpet.
The Pirates had more four
more hits, but Ned’s scored two
more runs to defeat the Pirates, j
10-8, on Sept. 15. Richard Cope
land was 3-for-3 and Stanley
Winslow, 2-for-3 with a double,
for Ned’s. Arthur Davis led the
Pirates, going 4-for- 4, while
Randolph White was 2-for-2 with
a double.
Owens’ sailed past Jimmy’s,
12-3. Glenn Lamb was 3-for-4
with a double for Owens’, while
Frank Lilly was 2-for-4.

old soccer team. Recreation di
rector Lee Hoffman said the team
will play in the Chowan league.
Eighteen youth are scheduled to
play.
Midget football is also gearing

meanor assault. He was
