Sabbath Mentations. ' - I. There are hindrance in eoialng to Cbriit for sal ration. What are they! (1) One hindrance exitta la a ml nnderttanding of the moral or spirit ual condition which 1 needful for the acceptance of Christ's offer of Miration. Satan leads the sinner to think that Christ want him to be good before he can come for salra tlon, whereat the troth it that Christ wast him to eonie jott at be it. Chritt offer himself to men at they are. Waiting to be better It no good might as well wait for your broken watch to Ox itself before yoa take it to the jeweler. Jetat says, "I came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance." (J) Is the want of sorrow for sin a hindrance? Do you say that you hare no feeling of penitence for tin? Go read the story of Christ's suffer ing at the cross and you can get it; there you will behold the Saviour dying forjyour sin. Read Isaiah 63rd chapter. What kind of a heart have you if you do not feel sorry when one voluntarily suffers for some wrong act of yours! See at the cross God's judgment against Christ as he took my place your place suflering death in our stead. See Paul to Romans, 5 6; T, 8, and rest your case. (3) Is it sensitiveness, pain, on ac count of your severance from God, shame on account of the degradation of your character, real biting hunger for righteousness? These you cannot expect to have until you accept Christ. This spiritual dead new which can neither see nor feel as it ought is the serious element in our condition, and if we wonld rid our selves of this by any means of our Saviour at all. If, then, anyone lias been delaying to accept Christ because he supioses that some preliminary process must be passed through, he should recog niie that this is a mistake. What Christ offers He offers freely, and on the spot, and to all. No preparation lllreauired. The preparation for rescue is dauger, and the prepara tion for salvation is sin. Are you a tinner? Then to you Christ offers Himself. He did not say, "Him that cometh unto me with sufficient earn ettness, or with a satisfactory re pen -taDoe, I will in no wise oast out;" He did not say, "Him that cometh with some fair prospect of being of use in My kingdom, I will in no wise cast out." He said simply and uncondi tionally, "Him that cometh unto Me 1 will in no wise cast out." It is His part to turn us into reliable and ser viceable men. II. Waiting for conversation: He cause the new birth is the work of the Holy spirit many think that they must wait for the Spirit to do His work. 1 ask, are you readier than Uud, your creator? When you say that you are waiting are you not al so saying that (iod is delaying? (iod says: "Behold, now is the accepted time." What do you say? Allow me to tell your business, your part in the supernatural experience of the new birth. It 1b this: Helieve in God's ability to make you a new man, and use at onco the divinely appointed means to that end. God will do the rest. III. Counterfeit Christians, like coimterseit money, are a common snare. My advice to you is, think less of the spurious and get into closer contact with the genuine. To know the power of God in Christ to save, you must go to those who are saved, not those merely profess to be. Can't you detect the difference be tween natural and artificial flowers? The counterfeit argues the existence of the genuine. You do not judge the efficiency of a drill sergent by the slouching gait of the man who has indeed enrolled himself iu a volunteer corps, but has never apared at a single drill, and is shortly to have bis name taken off the books. And remember that in the end there is nodifference between making a wrong profession and mak ing none at all. To be saved you must confess Christ before the world. THK FINAL yUKSTION. What will you do? You can live a right life and you ought to do it. There is one, the purest, best and strongest tltot ever crossed this earth and He offers to you His supreme help and closest friendship. What can you think of yourself if you re fuse it? No soul can lightly put aside such a question. D. H. Tuttlk Don't frown look pleasant. If you are suffering from Indigestion or sour stomach, take Kodol Dyspepsia Cure. Hon. Guaranteed, Told The Truth About It The editor of the Gayloni, Okla., Sentinel was married recently. He wrote the "story" himself for the Sentinel. Here is his account of the affair: "This it the first instance in sever al year of newspaper work that the writer hat dared to tell the truth about a wedding, for fear of getting licked, and doe so now with a keen relish. The bridegroom it an editor, and it not a popular and accomplish ed leader of society in fact, he don't know as much about it at a rabbit. His hair it red, the freckles on his face crowd each other for room. In the dusk it it hard to distinguish him from a telephone pole. He never considered that the future looked very bright or promising it has al ways kept him too busy paying his board bills to have any dreams about future greatness. He is just a com mon sort of fellow, and claims dis tinction ouly in that he is a Kansan from the soles of his clumsy feet to the top of hiB head. The bride is the roundest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. NT. J. White, and was born and raised n Solemn valley. Judging from the job she has taken on her hands, she is a young lady of more than ordina ry nerve." Kxchauge. Indigestion is much of a habit. Don't get the habit. Take a little Kodol Dyspepsia Cure after eating and you will quit belching, puffing. palpitating and rrowuiug. nuuui Digests what you eat auu iuas.es me stomach sweet. Sold by J. h. "May they grow up gener ous. May none of them grow up in to such a man as an old banker whom I know. He Is a millionaire, and he lives in a palace, but hi heart is as hard as steel and as cold as ice. One of his men completed, the other day. his tweny fifth year of service. For twenty five years this honest man had worked for the bank er faithfully. He and his chief were both poor at the beginning, but here, iu the quarter century, the bauker had accumulated millions, the faithful, middle-aged book keep er had only saved a few hundreds. His salary, you see, was only twenty five dollars a week. "He didn't think the banker would remember the twenty fifth anniver sary of his engagement, but the old man did. That morning he handed the bookkeeper a sealed envelope. "'George,' he said, 'to day ends the twenty fifth year of your work with me, and you have worked steadily and well. In this envelo is a me inento of the occasion' "The bookkeeper opened the envel ope, trembling and eager, w itiim lay his employer's photograph. That was all. In the fuco of disappointment so bitter the poor fellow could say not li ng- Well," said the banker, ..what do you think of it?" 'It's just like you," said the book keeper, "simply." Kx. As the buds of every variety after ts kind are bursting forth showing their red and white petals, and we hear the songs of the little winged creatures, whose habitation Is the air. and we see the tender grass peeping from its dorment state, and we see the farmer's plow turning up the fresh soil and look upon the beautiful wheat fields shining like a green sheet, we know that spring Is nearjto gladden the animal kingdom in the hope of another harvest by and bye. Most people think that they have some wisdom, but their wisdom lies In the direction of making a living and getting rich If possible. In verse 4 we read, "Labor not to be rich; cease from thine own wisdom." In chapter vitl, J8, Wisdom says, "Riches and honor are with me, durable riches aud rUrhteousneea." Elsewhere we read, "lu the way of righteousness la life, and In the pathway thereof there Is no death." Aud aguln, "As rlght eousuess teudeth to life, so he that pur sueth evil pursueth It to his own death" (xll. 28; xL lt. The des tiny of man U 7?lther eterual bliss or eternal torment See Matt xxv, 34, 41, U: Kev. h. 11; xv, 2, 3. God Is not williug that any should perish and has provided at the cost of the snort flow of Ili-i Son as the sinner's sulstitute a re demption for every penitent sinner. The devil, the great destroyer, seeks In many ways to blind people to the truth aud to their best Interests, and It Is written of such, "The god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who Is the Image of God. should shine unto them" (II Cor. lv. 41. Among the wiles of the devil mentioned In this book by which he deludes the unwary are covetous noss. riches, self Indulgence, the wicked woman, wine and stroug drink. Today inlirlil be added the theater, the card table, the dance, opium, etc. The heart Is deceitful above all things uud des licrutcly w icked; the whole world Ueth in the wicked one; that wicked oue Is the father of lies aud a murderer (Jer. xvll. l; 1 John v, 19; John vlli, 44). I'nder such circumstances what hope can there lie for poor mau-soul? None but In Him who speaks hi righteous ness, mighty to save; whose arm alone enn brlnis salvation (Isa. lxtll, 1, 0). Compare the woes of Isa. v, 11, 22; Hah. II. l.'i, and couslder also the woes of Matt xxlll From I Cor. vl, 0-11, we learn that then- Is naught but woo both here and hereafter for the drunk ard unless by the grace of God ho beeonies one of those of whom it la written. "Such were some of you, but ye are waslud." I have Just rend those two glorious testimonials from Wales: One convert, who had lieou a gambler ami drunkard, with his bodily frame shattered by his life, gave testlmouy that since the day of his conversion he had been perfectly restored to his nor mal health Another, who had not been sober one v. eek end for thirty-five years, said he could not now smell al coholic Ihpior without sickness, the revulsion was so great. Some of the sud liible records of drunkards are found In Cen. x. 20-25; I Sam. xxv, IV'., IIS; ll Sam. xl. 13; I Kings xvl, 8-10, but "Christ Jesus came Into the world to save sinners," and He Is able to save to the uttermost. There Is an "at the last" and a here after, and "Le thnt soweth to the flesh shall of the flesh renp corruption (Gal. vl, N). Many a drunkard has a fore taste of the adder and serpeut experi ence, which perchance ore given him Unit he may repent and escnpe the tor ment where the worm dleth not and the lire Is not quenched.. The whole difficulty Is In the heart out of which proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries and fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies, and these come forth through the mouth and defile the man (Matt, xv, 18, 10). There must be a new heart, pure and clean, and this God gives freely to all who really desire It (IV II, 10; Bzck. xx xvl, 20). Jeremiah said, "Mine eye affecteth mine heart," aud Job said, "Mine heart walked after mine eyes" (Lam. ill, 51; Job xxxl, 7). How neces sary Is the prayer, "Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity, and quick en Thou mo In Thy way (Ps. cxlx, 87). "Look not" Is the word In our lesson, but the way not to look In a wrong di rection Is to bo wholly occupied look ing in a right one. The first word for the sinner unsaved is, "Look unto Me and be saved," then for the saved sin ner, "Hun with patience looking unto Jesus" (Isa. xlv, 22; Heb. xil, 1, 2). The word of Gideon Is also good, "Look on me and do likewise; as I do so shall ye do" (Judg. vli, 17). If Eve had not looked on the forbidden fruit and if A ban had not looked on the forbidden spoil, what a different story It would have been! (Gen. ill, 6; Josh. vIL 21.) Woman represents the yorst as well as the best In Scripture. The true church is the brldo of Christ and It espoused as a chaste virgin to Christ while the false church Is compared to a harlot (Hev. xLi and xvll and II Cor. xl, 2). If drunken with wine, we heboid the ovil, but If filled with the Spirit we shall sec Jesus only (Eph. v, 18). Nei ther the midst of the sea nor the top of a mast suggests anything of safety, but rather the possibility of sudden depar ture out of this world, reminding us of David's words, "Truly as the Lord llv cth and as thy soul Hveth, there Is but a stop between me and death (I Sam. xx, 8). Inasmuch, therefore, as our stay here is so uncertain, how un wise and even insane It is to continue a moment longer In rebellion against Cod.
